1967 Mercedes-Benz 250SE Additional Info:

1967 Mercedes 250SE fuel injected, 4 speed manual. Runs well. It's unrestored and original.

Background: This car was owned by famous artist Eliot Porter. EP had the last art exhibit in Alfred Stieglitz's Gallery 291 (see art history books). Georgia O'Keefe has been on a number of trips in this car. EP and Georgia O'Keefe were friends and lived in Sante Fe (where this car spent much of it's life) I bought this car from the Porter family in 1997. You get a ton of documentation and service records back to 1967. The car was purchased in Rome Italy, driven to Greece to shoot photos for the book Greek World (by Eliot Porter). After that the car was flown to the USA/Sante Fe. There are two sets of keys, the original jack and a bald spare.

Drive TrainGood stuff:The exterior lights work
The transmission is smooth and quiet. The clutch works.
The fan speeds workThe interior lights workThe dash lights workThe fuel injection unit is good. It's starts easily and starts even after months of sitting.
The engine is good. No smoke. It has power. It's smooth.
Bad stuff:
There is a shimmy on deceleration or when its not under load (driveline slop). It has always done that I just drive it like that.
The tires are bad. Lots of tread but they have a ton of cracks in the sidewalls.

Body work:
Good stuff:The seats are nice. I don't see any tears. They are original.
Interior door panels are original.
Mostly all of the body panels and windows are 1967 original as far as I know.
The hood and truck lid have been repainted (20 years ago) the balance of the car is original 1967 paint the condition worn and dull.

Bad StuffThere's rust behind the chrome strips at some mount holes. The rocker panels have been patched. There is a patch on the right rear.
The roof paint is poor, it's original.
There is some rust around the wheel opening lips see the photos.
The frame is solid. This car was never driven in the Pennsylvania salt or the winter.

Shipping: I can load it onto a trailer if you arrange the trailer. You can pick it up in Boalsburg Pa.
