Very unique 1981 Mercedes-Benz 500 SEL with numerous period modifications and just over 24K documented miles. This 500 SEL was imported to the US in 1987 with just 3K miles and has had the same owner until being purchased in late 2022. It is finished in black exterior paint over palomino velour interior. Period modifications are plenty on this car and consist of a rear AMG badge, BBS front lip spoiler, D&W side skirts and rear bumper apron, Rial wheels date stamped '83, lowered suspension, Ernst mufflers, MOMO steering wheel, Recaro Idealsitz C seats, Blaupunkt EQ and speakers. The car runs and drives very well - it starts cold or hot, shifts through the gears as expected, and rides comfortably with no atypical noises.
Recent maintenance includes new fuel pump, filter and lines, as well as new brake master cylinder and hoses, and new tires. The radio turns on but does emit sound, the gauge lights do not work, the rear reading lights do not work, the ABS light is illuminated, a transmission cooler line leaks, and the AC compressor or line appears to have a leak.
