3 years ago, I was introduced to a collector in Michigan whom had a low mileage 190E 16V and he was considering selling it. It had been sitting in his climate controlled storage for nearly 10 years without moving. He had purchased it from a eurocar mechanic shop owner in St Louis in the early 2000s (who I am in touch with and he gave me the back story on the car).
I have owned a couple of these and was on the hunt for a low mileage example (super hard to find with these)I took a gamble and purchased this one, sight unseen and had it towed to a local Euro shop to be gone through, before being shipped to me in Dallas. I had the whole car gone thorough to address any possible issues with the car sitting for so long. Luckily, no major surprises - I made sure anything and everything was replaced that needed to be (Put about $8K into before it was shipped down to me)- All Fluids flushed- Full tune up (injectors, plugs, etc)- Most rubber replaced- Battery- Tires (also added R129 16" Gullideckel wheels vs factory 15")- New pads and rotors- etc
I have not put many miles on the car and recently lost my storage for the car, so have decided to let it go (wife would like her spot back in the garage!)

Prior to my ownership and all In the last few thousand miles, a ton of work has been done to it also including:
- Self-leveling suspension system completely removed and replaced with BILSTEIN shocks and H&R sport springs all the way around.- New Sachs clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing.- Cylinder head was removed to replace leaking freeze plug at the rear of the head. At the same time, the following work was also done: Valve job, timing chain replaced, cylinder head pressure check (ok), all cylinder head freeze plugs renewed, new water pump and drive belt, coolant hoses, coolant reservoir and level sender, and new coolant transfer pump.- The valves were adjusted with the cylinder head work (this alone is a big job, and is often neglected on these cars).- The factory header has been Jet Hot Coated to run cooler and lower under hood temperatures.- All new Bosch injectors.- New idle control valve.- New and correctly calibrated air flow potentiometer.- New throttle switch.- New over voltage protection relay.- New voltage regulator.- New engine temperature sensor and fan switch.- New ABS speed sensors at both front wheels.- Rebuilt climate control pushbutton assembly from ?PROGRAMA?.- The dash was removed and the blend air flaps vacuum element and feedback potentiometer were both replaced with new (these two things will cause the climate control system to operate incorrectly when they fail).- New Bosch fuel pump, filter, and fuel accumulator.
The car runs and drives great, but If I was to keep it, I would still do a few things to the car:- Car still is R12 A/C and it's inop. A/C would need to be repaired and converted- Clear-coat on hood is starting to go and hood would need to be resprayed if you wanted this car to be visually near perfect. (Car is all original paint currently)- Needs new hood pad- I would likely take the lowered H&R sport springs off and replaced with normal ride height (personal preference)- Lap timer screen has the typical ink bleed (I have a new one that will come with car to replace it)
This is an extremely original example with low miles. Nearly impossible to find.
I hate to sell it, but some other obligations have came up and I lost my storage space, so a lot of my cars must go including this one. I am hoping it goes to another enthusiast that plans to enjoy it as much as I planned too.
