Breathtaking! Yes, I am speaking about this Rare 1983 Mercedes Benz 380 SEL. You may be thinking you've seen plenty of these 380 sedans, and you have in the SE short wheel base version. But seeing a Long Wheel Base 380 SEL is not so every day. Finding one in this condition with the history it has would be like finding a needle in the hay stack. That is exactly what I do. Travel great distances here in the west to find one of a kind special collector cars like this 1983 Mercedes Benz 380 SEL. From the minute I arrived in South Lake Tahoe to see this incredbile car, I was taken in by it's immaculate original condition. The exterior shows only the most minor wear even under extreme inspection. The interior is absolutely stunning. To see a 83 Mercedes Benz is any model with condition like this is rare enough but to find it in exceptional functional condition was pure joy. Then there was the story of it's ownership. Documented by it's title and the business card of the owner, this car was bought new buy the lead service technician at Mercedes Benz of Sacramento that later retired and moved to South Lake Tahoe, Nevada and continued under his own business of servicing European automobiles. You will see his name in the images below. When I opened the hood and crawled underneath the car, my respect for this owner was unmatched. This car looked like it just came off the showroom floor underneath. Inside the leather wrapped seats were firm, no damage to be found and the wood was exceptional without cracks. The original phone still in the car. Notes the owner had written on scrap paper in baggies with parts removed and replaced at certain dates. That always amazes me to see attention to details. There wasn't any sun fade, damage or rust of any kind. Just a superb exceptional example of a 1-Owner Mercedes Benz maintained to perfection. I paid the seller and drove the car right home from South Lake Tahoe, Nevada to Las Vegas. About a 450 mile trip right through the night with 22 miles per gallon average gas mileage was stunning since I was cruising through canyons and freeways at 60 - 85 miles per hour. Just a pure please car. Back in 1983, this 380 SEL was no cheap car either at $48k. The best part, the market history of this car was listed on Car & Driver as one of the 10 best cars for 1983; beating out the 560 SEL flagship model at three times it's production. As you look through the images, nearly 200 of them from top to bottom, enjoy this piece of history but if you wants to make this car a part of your history, don't be shy and bid like most eBay bidders do, call me and let's make a deal and show you how to close it early on eBay. Ok, I think we have your attention if you are still reading and starring at the first nine images of the exterior of the 1983 Mercedes Benz 380SEL. As you can see so far, the exterior is SHOW QUALITY! Yes, I did "Yell That" in capital letters. Better yet, the original metal of this car is all there. Never any rust, no panels replaced and absolutely impeccable show quality paint over top of that flawless metal. From the front to the rear end of this pure luxury car, the finish is just absolutely outstanding. Walking up to the exterior of the car, the paint finish is perfectly cut to shinny perfection. The doors, hood and trunk all open and close like the car just rolled out of the factory yesterday. The original exterior look of the car doesn't give any reason to believe that the car wasn't garage kept for 37 years. The original wheels show very little wear and the tires are nearly new with less that 500 miles on them. The spare has never even been on the ground. The glass and trim everwhere you look just looks fantastic and the windshield only has a few minor pits and chips. We know with Carfax the car has never been in any wreck or accident. We have a copy of that and would be delighted to email to serious buyers or bidders that are seriously within a shot of winning. The underside of the MBZ is absolutely without question, one of the cleanest we have ever seen. No damage and no rust anywhere to be found. Let's stare at some more images of the exterior again...
The interior of this 1983 Mercedes Benz 380SEL is just as fantastic as the exterior. All original looking and exceptional in condition. You'll open the driver's door and instantly smell the leather and see the exceptional condition of the seats, the carpets and the dash. The dash that has no cracks anywhere. The wood paneling inside the car is not cracked or broken. The panel of wood that fits at the air conditioning controls is a little warped on the right lower corner. The interior is completely functional including the reclining rear bench seat. The battery was replaced and since then the radio does not come on. Although it did before and so did the antenna. I understand that a Mercdes Dealer and pull it out and reset the codes. Haven't done that. There is many more picture of the interior below so keep scrolling and reading since you are the real buyer.
Driving the Mercedes Benz 380 SEL from South Lake Tahoe to Las Vegas Nevada was pure pleasure. The performance was outstanding. No glitches whatsoever. I was amazed however at the exceptional gas mileage as I did not expect to see 22 and my average over 300 miles into the trip. When I arrived here in Las Vegas, the first thing I do with all of my great Cars is have them fully inspected by a third party shop that is certified to work on Mercedes Benz. I always ask them to advise anything that they would suggest replacement or repair. They suggested that the hoses and belts be replaced as the car hadn't been driven many miles over the last 5 years. They also suggested the water pupm be replaced too. So we did everything they suggested so you won't have to fix anything. I also had them check compression on all cylinders. The left bank was 130/135/130/140 and the right bank was 130/140/135/130 which is exceptional and shows the extreme quality this care was maintained to. While driving the car, I noticed the left rear window regulator was sketchy so I also had them replace the rollers on that regulator. Aside from those items, the car had no leaks or seapage that could be found or detected. Having been owned and maintained by a Mercedes Benz Lead Technician all of it's life and driven by his wife, I am sure this care has years to serve its next collector owner.

With just four employees and no sales people, I realize how unusual a “dealership” like mine may be at a first glance. It has taken great care and effort to create such an organization and often, an unusually high investment in a particular car we are about to list. To sell the best it is critical to have a trusted expert in my corner. First we do an exhaustive 130 point inspection on each and every vehicle and hope nothing escapes our methodical investigation. Experience has shown that everything I spend making a car truly “right” will come back to me not only with a higher selling price, but a happy customer that says good things about Collector's Dream Cars. Moreover, it allows us to describe the car with ease and confidence, something that simply is not possible unless we think it is true. If major issues are found or the cost of fixing the car the way it should be makes it too expensive to sell, my choice is an easy one. I simply absorb a few hundred dollars loss for my trouble and sell it at auction so you don’t get a headache over the vehicle.
After the vehicle is fully checked over and made whole at any level it needs to be, we researches its history, documents, documenting originality and authenticity. Historical significance, rarity, special features, possible modifications, and much more are used to accurately describe the vehicle with integrity and honesty. Most important for the potential buyer are the 100 to 200 high resolution pictures that I take myself. The pricey equipment I use would be right at home in the hands of the very best professional photographers and I’ve developed a logical format that walks you around the entire vehicle with close-up shots of every square inch. I provide detailed views of the interior, under the hood and then put it on a lift to show the undercarriage and confirm that the beauty of the car you are considering is not merely skin deep. Even our detailers are enthusiastic about the cars they meticulously clean. Reconditioning can sometimes take several days as we do all that we can within reason to get our vehicles in tip top condition visually and cosmetically. We do Way more than just a cheap detail. Our details are more like refurbishing to as close to new as we can possibly get our vehicles.
Usually, I’ll also include a high definition video that shows the car doing its thing. If it’s a fast car, we film it going fast. If it’s a 4x4 you’ll see it crawling up a hill. In every case you will hear things like a rumbling exhaust, working sound system and watch gauges operation as well.
No “dealer,” on-line or in the real world, takes it to this level. No other seller or organization provides you, the buyer, with so much information. I do this because it is the only way I can convince a person; often a world away, unable to touch or feel their purchase that my vehicle is for real and what I say is an honest assessment. All the above is necessary for me to stay in business while keeping integrity intact. I want every buyer to be happy and I need glowing feedback on eBay.
