Seven Hills Motorcars is glad to offer this very nice 1983 Mercedes Benz 380SL in great condition. It looks spectacular, runs great, and is an awesome driver. The market on the R107 SL is absolutely red hot right now and this example is absolutely priced to sell. This car is one of the most affordable ways to get into the classic car market and one of the cheapest Mercedes SL's for sale anywhere.

There is copy of the AutoCheck report on this car pictured below. It is totally clean and shows no accident history.

I have personally put about 20 miles on this Mercedes, during that time the car was flawlessly reliable with absolutely no issues and a pleasure to drive. This 380SL comes with both the soft-top and auxiliary hardtop. This is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Mercedes that is ready to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years to come. This Mercedes is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combination Black (040) exterior over Black interior (271) with a black soft-top (740). This is the correct and original color scheme as verified on the data tag pictured below as well as the vehicle data card. We have found triple black to be the most sought-after color combination for this era SL. Please peruse all of the photos, video, option codes, and other information in this ad to get a true sense of clean and nice this 380SL really is.

This Mercedes is verified as "numbers matching" meaning the engine in the car is the correct and original unit that was installed in the factory. It is especially rare, but this 380SL has the "vehicle data card" from the Mercedes factory, which is pictured below. It shows the original engine number to be "116962 12 013494." We have checked the engine and confirmed that same engine number stamped on the left side of the engine block. The transmission is also original and matches the number in the data card, "722312 02 311186." All of the paint and trim codes are also correct and match the vehicle data card and the data tag by the radiator.

As a side note, this Mercedes is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our classics come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the 380SL, just give us a call.

Exterior

The Black (040) exterior is in excellent driver condition. As one can see in the photos, the paint has a brilliant gloss, deep shine, and smooth finish. The original alloy wheels are in great shape with no curb rash. The Dunlop tires have plenty of tread left and are correctly sized 205/70R14. There are no major imperfections that have been intentionally excluded from the photos. As one would expect from a paintjob with many years on it there are some small blemishes around that are too tiny so show up in the photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from about five or ten feet away. As one can see in the many photos of the underside, this 380SL is very clean underneath. There are a few bubbles and some rust underneath the car. We have also included specific photos of the rockers, lower front and rear quarter panels, and other areas on the car most prone to rust to show how nice it looks.

Interior

The Black (271) interior of the 380SL looks fantastic. The seats are in excellent condition with no tears, rips, or excessive wear. The seat is not overly worn at all in the typical are on the driver's bolster where the driver gets in and out. All of the gauges faces are crisp and the lenses are clear. The Black (740) convertible soft-top is in excellent condition, the previous owner said that the top was recently replaced. The rear windows are not yellowed or foggy. The dash has been capped and looks great with no cracks or sun fading. This car has never been smoked in; there is no aroma of cigarettes what so ever and no burn marks. The trunk is clean and complete with the spare tire and jack.

The excellent condition of this interior is a huge testament to the meticulous care and attention this Mercedes has received throughout its life.

Mechanical

This 380SL appears to be in good mechanical condition and it is ready to be enjoyed. As stated above I have personally put about 20 miles on the car with absolutely no issues. The engine starts right away every time and idles well. It is a nice driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. In the video one can observe the car accelerating on the highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking to a stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that it runs great, there are no strange noises or vibrations, and the car performs quite nice overall. The brakes are responsive and do not pull to one side or the other. There is no blue smoke when starting or driving the car. It runs cool and does not overheat. The gauge shows that the engine makes great oil pressure. Also, the engine bay is clean, nicely detailed, and correct as one can see from the photos.

Please note in the video the dash warning lights working; they light up when the key is first turned on and then go off when the engine is started as they should. There are no "check engine" or other lights that stay on. The wipers work as do the fog lights, radio, interior lights, and power windows. The blower works on defrost. There are a few items on the car that do not work such as the horn, tach, and a/c. There may be some other bugs for a car at this price point so we would suggest any perspective buyer look at the car in person is possible. This Mercedes is smooth and quick with the 3.8 liter V8 engine. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the top down on a beautiful day.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1983 380SL is in good condition and is a true bargain at our asking price. The market on for the R107 body style SL Mercedes is very strong right now, particularly for an example like this car in Black over Black. This Mercedes is a great value and will only appreciate over time. Someone could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort.

Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions.
