Extremely rare 1957 Mercedes 300c Long wheelbase for sale.

In the severely hit Germany after World War II, Daimler-Benz started repairing cars before modest production started again with the 170 models.

To the Frankfurt car show in 1951, Daimler-Benz succeeded in achieving a great beautiful car - the famous 300 that immediately became a success.

One of the first customers of this model was the Chancellor Konrad Adenauer, who of course would go the finest that Germany could perform, hence the popular name 300 "Adenauer".

During the autumn of 1955, the Bonn regime needed to make a new procurement of a representative car to the Chancellor. The requirement list on the car had increased with, among other things, more generous legroom behind. At the Frankfurt trade fair, BMW issued a prototype, model 505 with an extended chassis and high enough that the Chancellor could have his famous hat on during travel. The BMW was well run but ultimatum was put to Daimler-Benz to re-purchase a 300, though it would have extended the chassis.

Daimler-Benz obviously did not want to loose the prestigious Konrad Adenauer at any price and receives an order for a 300c with extended chassis delivered in May 1956 to the administration in Bonn.

The factory now had an extended version of the famous 300 on the program with the additional price DM 3000 on its program. Only 61 more cars were built of the long wheelbase model until the autumn of 1957 when 300d "hardtop" was introduced.

Two of the LWB cars were sold to Sweden in 1957, this is one of them.

This specific car was sold to the Executive Board of the Swedish Consumer Organization in the autumn of 1957. A private collector later called it into an auction in 1984, by then fully drivable. Has than been standing in a garage ever since !

The car was left in a dry garage for 35 years and you can become the owner of an extremely unusual Mercedes 300 Adenauer!
