1992 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series WAGON Additional Info:
THANKS FOR VIEWING MY 300TE. I PURCHASED IT IN 2014, AT THE VERY BEGINNING OF MY STILL BURGEONING LOVE AFFAIR WITH OLDER MERCEDE-BENZ AUTOMOBILES. (I'VE ONLY VERY RECENTLY ADDED AN AWESOME 1976 300D TO MY LIFE, BUT THAT IS A STORY FOR ANOTHER DAY). I ORIGINALLY FOUND IT LISTED HERE ON EBAY AND AFTER A COUPLE EXTENDED CONVERSATIONS WITH THE VERY METICULOUS AND KNOWLEDGEABLE OWNER, I DECIDED TO TAKE THE PLUNGE AND MAKE HER MINE. I'M IN UPSTATE NY AND THE CAR WAS IN CHICAGO, SO THE FIRST DECISION WAS JUST HOW TO GET IT BACK HERE...AND SO STARTED THE PLANNING OF A MINOR ADVENTURE, ONE THAT WILL PROBABLY SOUND VERY FAMILIAR TO ALL YOU CAR GUYS OUT THERE.MY BUDDY AND I DECIDED TO TAKE AN OVERNIGHT TRAIN FROM ROME, NY TO DOWNTOWN CHICAGO, MEET THE OWNER WITH THE CAR AND PROCEED TO DRIVE IT HOME. (FOR ANYBODY WHO'S THINKING OF DOING SOMETHING SIMILAR, MAKE SURE THE FRIEND YOU'RE TRAVELING WITH KNOWS HOW TO OPERATE THE CLIMATE CONTROL IN THE SLEEPER CAR ON THE TRAIN OR YOU'LL WAKE UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT IN A SAUNA OF YOUR OWN MAKING!) THE PLAN WORKED GREAT! THE 300TE WAS LITERALLY WAITING AT THE CURB AS WE WALKED OUT OF THE TRAIN STATION IN DOWNTOWN CHICAGO. A COUPLE OF HANDSHAKES AND MONSTER HERO SANDWICHES LATER AND WE WERE ON OUR WAY EAST.OF COURSE THIS WOULDN'T BE MUCH OF AN ADVENTURE IF WE JUST DROVE HOME AND THAT WAS IT, SO WE PLANNED TO STOP IN CARLISLE FOR ONE OF THEIR WEEKEND EVENTS. WE DID SO, AND SPENT A COUPLE OF DAYS RUNNING AROUND SOUTHERN PA BEFORE HEADING HOME, LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT. ON SUNDAY, WE SET OUT ON THE FINAL LEG OF OUR DRIVE AND GOT BACK WITH THE CONVICTION THAT I'D PURCHASED A REALLY GOOD CAR. GRANTED, IT WASN'T A TREK ACROSS THE SERENGETI, BUT IT WAS A GREAT WAY TO GET INTRODUCED.SINCE THEN I'VE DRIVEN THE WAGON A HANDFUL OF TIMES EVERY SUMMER (INCLUDING TWO TRIPS TO SARATOGA SPRINGS THIS SUMMER) AND OTHERWISE KEPT IT CLEAN, DRY, MAINTAINED AND TUCKED AWAY UNDER COVER BETWEEN JAUNTS. ITS IN SUCH WONDERFUL CONDITION AND THE INTERIOR IS SO CLOSE TO PERFECT THAT I NEVER REALLY CONSIDERED PUTTING IT INTO DAILY SERVICE, THOUGH I'M SURE IT COULD CERTAINLY HANDLE IT WITHOUT ISSUE. THE FELLOW THAT I PURCHASED IT FROM KEPT WONDERFUL CARE OF IT AND INCLUDED MAINTENANCE RECORDS GOING BACK TO 2009, SO I KNEW I WAS GETTING A BENZ THAT WAS MUCH LOVED.THE A/C, POWER SEATS, WINDOWS, SUNROOF, ETC. ALL WORK VERY WELL, THOUGH THE CRUISE CONTROL IS INTERMITTENT. THE SRS LIGHT IS ON AND HAS BEEN FOR A LONG TIME, BUT ITS NEVER CREATED ANY ISSUE WHATSOEVER, AND BEING THAT MY GOAL WITH THESE OLDER CARS IS MAINTENANCE AND STEWARDSHIP, THIS WASN'T ANYTHING I EVER WORRIED ABOUT. THIS 300TE STARTS WELL, RUNS SMOOTH AND QUIETLY, HOLDS ITS TEMPERATURE WHERE IT SHOULD BE, AND JUST GENERALLY GOES ABOUT ITS BUSINESS WITH UNDERSTATED STYLE AND INTEGRITY, JUST THE WAY THESE CARS WERE BUILT TO.

IF YOU'D LIKE A MB WAGON THAT IS BEING SOLD BY SOMEONE WHO KNOWS THE CAR WELL AND HAS CARED FOR IT, I HOPE WE END UP CONNECTING. ITS VERY NICE AND READY TO BE DRIVEN, SO I LOOK FORWARD TO SPEAKING TO THOSE OF YOU WITH A GENUINE INTEREST IN THESE WONDERFUL AUTOMOBILES.
