1980 Mercedes-Benz 400-Series Additional Info:
Up for sale is my 1980 Mercedes Benz 450 sl with approximately 118,000 original miles. The vehicle comes with the original contract signed by Roger Maris on the day that he purchased the vehicle. I purchased it from his Son in Gainesville Florida. We know Roger Maris broke Babe Ruth record for home runs by hitting 61 homer in 1961. There was a movie by Billy Crystal called "61" which he produced/directed. It is the story of Roger Maris's life. I was given all documentation of repairs over the years the family owned it.As I have had it inspected and was told all the parts are original and no accidents and was never smoked in.There was many new parts including new brakes and rotors. The family kept all receipts from Continental automotive(there are many) I had to purchase a rebuilt servo($1200) to fix the A/C but lately it quit on me probably due to needing freeon or something. I also had a new master cylinder. I purchased four new Michelin tires recently(probably only 1000 miles on them). All new spark plugs and wires were replaced recently and I have documented receipts. There are many other repairs completed on normal wear and tear. So I would say this Mecedes was well kept over the years and I continued to keep it up by purchasing additional parts it needed. The soft top is in excellent condition with no rips or tears and the original hardtop is removable. The leather seat have no rips or tears and are in excellent condition. The original car mats and carpeting are in very good condition. The motor runs very good and shifts like it should and I have driven it 60 to 70mph and it runs steady and strong. There are a few nicks and a few small scratches but overall the original paint is very good and not all faded out>>most likely because it was garage kept. The undercarriage of vehicle is very clean due to it's Florida heritage where it stayed out of inclement weather of snow and salt. I had it inspected underneath by a mechanic and was given a favorable report. He could not detect any accidents.I am very particular and care for this vehicle and feel it is a great looking car that will always hold its value. These 450sl will always have that luxury look and a style and bodylines that will stand the test of time. Great collector car and was owned by a great New York Yankee baseball player that we will all know forever. call me for questions at 386-292-5617 after 12 noon for any question and texting is ok. I will respond. Car is in ST PTERSBURG, FLORIDA and can be seen there. Shown by appointment. Trade Possibly for interesting car or cash talks. $12,500 obo.
