Few more details based on questions I've received:- I added 12 more pics (5-16) which are from the listing from previous owner that I purchased car from (locally in California). They show engine bay, interior and more exterior pics.- the paint may have been resprayed at some point because it looks too good to be 40 years old. Yet do not see any evidence of body work at all and, no I do not see any significant rust (or rust cover up) anywhere.- there is some cosmetic issues, e.g. rubber seals around windshield has cracks, clear coat has minor irregularities but overall car looks phenomenal for the age and make me think its been resprayed.- I drive car locally and comfortably so but I cannot guarantee it will make it cross country. I've had car for 2.5 months and I have done nothing to it, no repairs, no work at all. I drove it around but did not take it for a professional inspection at a mechanic. It may make it fine to the East Coast but I would advise have it looked over by professional mechanic prior to a long drive. As it is now, I am not aware of any major issues (e.g. tires, suspension, engine, etc work fine; tranny has the jerky shifts between gear but will shift up and down and has not been slipping, it just shifts with a jerk and a clunk - the smooth shifting is believed to be mediated by the vacuum system mentioned above. Per my reading, I initially thought the problem may be an part called the automatic transmission vacuum control valve - part#123 070 0046- its a small valve that sits on top of engine cover - but after reading Peter Bergsma's posts and you tube videos, (he is a known expert on older Mercedes with its own website and many videos, I did not replace the valve (I did purchase a good used one and will include) but Bergsma advices a more detailed evaluation of the vacuum system (I've purchased his testing kits and will will include with car but I did not actually try to diagnose it so kit is unused). - speedometer and mileage odometer work but turometer (engine rev) stopped working 3 weeks ago- headlights and position lights work but the flasher stopped working (flasher unit is right on top of shifter box between seats) but I've had no time to look for a replacement one. It affects signaling because it will not flash when turned, e.g. turn lights turn on only but do not flash. Similarly, the hazard lights do not flash because they use the flasher).- I didn't get any records with the car when I purchase it and have not done any work on it- folks this is a 40+ year old car, not a new one, runs and drives but will need attention please do not assume it runs like a new car and set your expectations (and bids) appropriately. I've purchased it for $3500 (plus $3-400 in the testing kit and vacuum valve) and I set a buy it now price of $2995 but that option disappeared since bids are placed and car may sell for less. Since there are bids on the car, I respect the bidders and cannot cancel their bids and sell it to private seller, auction will end fairly soon and I appreciate your patience and understanding; please place a bid if interested and let's be kind and professional with everyone. I travel for work frequently and as such have limited time to complete transaction; if winning bid please make contact soon after end of auction so you can get the car promptly. Thanks and good luck!
