1973 Mercedes-Benz 280SEL Additional Info:
Hello Everyone, thank you for viewing my listing.
Up for sale is my 1973 280SE 4.5 V-8 automobile. I have owned this car for just under six years. It’s never let me down, and is always a joy to drive. It’s absolutely bone stock, factory specifications and has not been modified by shade tree mechanics.
Some of the major bonuses about this car. I’m the 3rd owner (2nd owner had it for 18 years.) It has the original factory “Tobacco Brown” paint in glorious condition. The interior is FULL LEATHER from GAHH, the premier OEM manufacturer of European car interiors. This car was featured in the Mercedes-Benz club of America magazine “The Star” for its interior. The wood trim looks great with only a hairline crack here and there as shown in the photos.
The engine is quiet and strong with good power across all rpms. The transmission shifts smoothly, the lights are all functional, as is the horn, wipers, and other accessories including the original Becker radio and AC, even the rare front rear radio fade control knob works! Don’t forget the clock, it ticks along as smoothly as the engine.
The brakes, suspension, and original limited slip diff are all sound with no strange rattles, or clunks. The car stops adroitly and in a straight line with no slewing from side to side. The fuel system is nice and clean. This car has the original Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection system and it’s in tip top shape, including the rubber fittings.
I have had the car professionally maintained in my stewardship by certified Mercedes mechanics. The car has always been garaged. My buy it now asking price is below what I have in the car. I welcome prepurchase inspections beforehand. I want this car to go to a good owner, an enthusiast. I will include the maintenance history, as well as the originals manuals, booklets, and metal data build card from the original owner/purchaser.
Additional goodies (copies of Mercedes club magazines, books, etc) available. I’ll happily provide any additional photos as requested and am happy to answer all questions to the best of my ability.
