1981 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 380sl Additional Info:
1981 Mercedes 380SL, 103,600 Miles, $10,700 Best offer.Very Nice example of the 380SL Model; Clean, original, unmolested car with dual timing chain: I purchased this car from what was believed to be the estate of the second owner, a 78 year old pilot, who could no longer drive because of a worsening multiple sclerosis condition. The car was purchased out west according to the original window sticker and has been handed down through the family over the years. The car has always been looked after by professional Mercedes mechanics and appears to have been garaged and well cared for its entire life. I did notice that Auto Check mentioned an insurance claim, I found this was the result of having one of the rims scratched during transport and the previous owner submitting a claim for its repair. I have a complete binder with over 300 documents, which includes the original window sticker and all the work done to it since new. I also have all the MB hang tags as it came from the manufacturer to the dealer. I had all the fluids changed (brake, antifreeze, transmission, and differential) this year. The car idles smooth, accelerates without hesitation, shifting with ease through every gear. It has 4 brand new tires and newer battery. This beautiful 380SL has current NJ historic registration and clean NJ title in my name. I had the car professionally repainted in the original champagne metallic (base coat/clear coat). This was done because the original clear coat was beginning to cloud over in spots. At the same time, I had a brand new brown German soft top installed. There is no rust or dents on the car; no previous body damage. The exterior color is champagne metallic gold with a tobacco MB TXT interior. The interior is in excellent shape as is all the trim, wood and carpets. The heat works well as I just had an new $350 heater control module installed last year, the AC works but could use a R12 charge. All the electrical and mechanical systems work as they should. The dash lights will sometimes flicker at night, the dimmer switch needs to be cleaned. The sound system is the original Becker radio and it works perfectly including the electric antenna. The trunk is equally clean; no blemishes on the carpets or the trim, no stains or smells. All rubber seals are in good shape. Car has the original color matching hardtop in great shape; Original owner's manuals, first aid kit and original German tool kit come with it!I spent a lot of time and money on the car, as I wanted to enjoy it over the years, however things changed and I'm now downsizing and really need to reduce my car collection. I've tried to describe this car to the best of my ability; It's 37 years old and you should have it professionally inspected by a knowledgeable technician familiar with these R-107's. PLEASE ask any questions, I'll be happy to do my best to answer them. HOWEVER, if you don't have the funds or your significant other is not on board with your purchase plans, let's not waste each other's time.Asking price is $10,700. Call 908 759 5651.
