1985 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Additional Info:
The time has come to sell my beloved 1985 Mercedes Wagon. She's a 5 cylinder diesel with 174k miles which isn't too bad on one of these cars. Rust is minimal but it's there in a few spots. It's not serious yet, but I have no more time to put into her so I wanted to sell her to someone who can keep her from rotting in the driveway. She was our daily driver for a couple years up until we just purchased a new vehicle in march. She's been sitting ever since. I start it up occasionally and let her get up to temp for 20 minutes or so to keep it fresh. These wagons are getting rarer as time goes on. She has a beautiful dash with only a slight crack that's hard to see, but its right where the instrument cluster raises up from the dash. Maybe a quarter of an inch long. She runs good and shifts well. You have to give it a little throttle when starting sometimes (needs a valve adjustment). Seems a tad bit sluggish compared to my sedan version of the same year started great and had a valve adjustment. Never ran on waste oil. Diesel only. She needs an alignment. I put the best tires I had on her if someone needs to drive her away. The AC has a leak somewhere. The vacuum locks kinda work. The vac pods in the dash keep them from working well. Cruise control board needs rebuilt. The becker radio never worked as long as we had it. Maybe a fuse, but I never really got into it. We hit a deer last year on the driver side headlight and busted some of the plastic there on on the grille. We also hit a manhole that was really high after the city ground down the pavement around it. It pulled the fender in and under on the drivers side. It must have been repainted (same color) by the previous owner. Its good for the most part but the clear coat on the top is flaking. Interior is pretty good. No rusty floor boards. I have a slew of parts and filters for her that I just never got around to installing. They are included in the auction. She leaks a little oil (old diesels tend to do that since the engine will outlast the rest of the vehicle). Shes a great car and we get tons of compliments on it and honks from other drivers (in appreciation, I swear! haha.) With some TLC she will last for many more years.
