You are bidding on a 1984 Mercedes-Benz 380SL Roadster with the factory hardtop and soft top. This car comes out of Florida originally. The previous owner told me she drove the car less than 400 miles the entire time she owned it. I don't know a whole lot about the cars history but will provide previous owners contact information to buyer. I purchased the car from her in April as she needed the garage space for a project she was working on. When I purchased the car from her it had 93,380 mile on it, so you can see I have enjoyed it some in a short period of time.
Electrical: These cars were loaded with features and really about as high class of a vehicle you could have purchased in the era. Great news is this car seems to have no electrical issues I can find. In the interior the clock, speedo, tripometer, odometer (vary rare to see the odometer still work, had issues with gears) tachometer, oil gauge, gas gauge, economy gauge all work as should. The heat blows hot air and the A/C blows cool air (not ice cold). The power mirrors, windows, dome lights, cluster lights, horn and cruise control work as well! The radio works, however the power antenna does not so stations are limited. On the exterior all the headlights, taillights, brake lights, licence plate light, fog lamps, turn signals and hazard likes function as they should.
Mechanical: Mechanically the car seems in good condition as well. The car starts up and runs and drives well. The tires have 80% tread. The car has a brand new battery and alternator. All fluids have been replaced or topped off. With the car only being driven 40 miles a year or less by previous owner, we filled it up with premium and a bottle of Techron to help lubrication internal parts and clean injectors because it has a slight hesitation at low RPM from not being driven, this has gotten better but still there when car is cold. The car seems to have no issues other than the hesitation that seems to be clearing up the more its driven and a clicking sound at startup from time to time. Neither seem to effect car and it really runs smooth out on the open road. I recently drove it on a 200 + mile trip at a smooth 80 MPH majority of the route. This car is made and designed for the autobahn so from what I have seen it loves nothing more than to get out on the open road and be driven! It seems to be road worthy for a 32 year old automobile.

Cosmetic: Cosmetically the car shows itself well. I believe the car had to have been re-painted at some point. Paint just looks too good to be original. The car is a very solid driver quality car. One you can cruise in on the weekend or take to your local car show and show with pride. I believe the car is too nice to be a daily driver, but its not a trailer queen either. Someone will buy this car and be able to enjoy as is and look cool doing it! The wheels I have been told are off a 560SL and very rare chrome wheels. The car also has the 3rd brake light you see on the 560SL. The car is 32 years old so with that come some minor scuffs and chips (mainly where hardtop sits on car). There are a few bubbles under paint by trunk button. There is a small area of clear coat that has peeled where the driver would rest their arm on the door, and the soft top has a couple of tears. All these have been pictured. None of these flaws would hurt to be drove as is or repaired at discretion of new owner. The soft top seems brittle, some rust on hardtop where rain would rest under hardtop on passenger side, but most people that own these never have the tops on them, 100% convertible sunny weekend mode!
Overall: This is going to make someone a great weekend cruiser. This car had an MSRP of over $43,800 in 1984, whoever bought this car new was doing something right. And these cars have kept their style ever since. I can't pull up to a light in this car with out someone honking and giving a thumbs up. Every time I am at a gas station someone comes up to me to look at the car and ask question. The way it handles going down the highway is amazing, smoother than my brand new Nissan! Ido my best to describe items I list as you can see from my feedback. I went over this car pretty well but that does not mean I found every little flaw. I own these cars a very short time and don't want any surprises when buyer arrives so I really try to describe it well. I always encourage you to come look at the car yourself before bidding to form your own opinion or send someone to inspect it. PLEASE UNDERSTAND... you are not bidding on the opportunity to come look and decide if you want to buy. You are bidding to OWN the car. This is a NO RESERVE auction and funds need to be in hand prior to bidding.
