This auction is for a very nice 1989 560SL that I am selling for a client of mine, who is a busy orthopedic surgeon, from his collection of older classic Mercedes Benz that are not for sale. I do not have any more information than there is in this listing and my client has had it for only a year. He is selling it because he moved into a high rise building in downtown Los Angeles and doesn't have space for his collection of mostly older Mercedes. The car has a clear California title and I have confirmed the vehicle identification number, 1989 model year and license plate number matches those on the title, that all fees were paid up to current and that the title states the mileage on 5-12-2015 of 59200 miles as the actual mileage, although I won't warrant the accuracy of that information by previous receipts or other records, etc. The odometer currently reads 61363 miles and the car does come with the original owners manual and other books.
It has very nice Champagne Metallic paint with only a few small scratches or chips on the edge of the drivers door which are only visible when you look for them. The hardtop matches the color of the rest of the body and the dark brown soft top is in very good condition as well. The interior is a light beige and the seats are the almost indestructible MB-Tex material and are very clean. The wood is clean and crack free. The headliner and sun visor is like new. I wasn't able to remove the hard top as that takes two people to do, but the dark brown soft top is like brand new or has been replaced recently and I will guarantee this and give you a chance to verify that fact before the transfer of funds even if you aren't able to have the car inspected before the auction ends.
Things like clock, air conditioning, interior thermometer and electric mirror adjustment, etc. still work. Even the factory automatic stereo antenna works smoothly.
The wheels are in very good condition and the tires are all evenly worn with about half their tread life remaining. The spare tire is still the original, unused Michelin and the wheel has the factory Cosmolene protective coating.
It is amazing how fast this car is, even compared to today’s cars. All the while it sits firmly on the road and gives a very comfortable, yet solid feeling ride. I'd say the car is easily good for another 60000 miles without any major repairs.
I encourage you to have the car inspected here in Los Angeles prior to the end of the auction and I make no other representations for the vehicle except for the truthfulness of this description and the photos shown and that the soft top is as I've described above.
A 20% down-payment is due with 2 days after the end of the auction and the full payment is due with 10 days. There are no exceptions for any reason, even if you are out of town or your spouse spent the money on something else, etc. The cost of transportation, pick-up or delivery of the car is the responsibility of the winning bidder/ buyer, but I will help with reasonable pick-up or delivery arrangements.
