1974 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series Additional Info:
No big story here, just a nice low mileage diesel Mercedes.
This 240D starts easy and runs smoothly.... The engine sounds great!
The suspension is tight; but very comfortable with OEM shocks/ springs.
This is a two owner, non-smoker, California vehicle.
Has original CA blue plates and the registration is good until July.
All the windows, radio, lights and the horn work.
Vacuum locks & engine kill, all work great.
Getting over 29mpg mixed driving.
Has AC, electric windows, remote side mirrors, aux rad fan, original Becker radio and fog lights.
Never run on veg oil or bio.
Fixed up to make my daily driver with a full service and many new parts.
Four new Michelin tires!
Recent oil / filter change with Rotella oil.
All fluids have been renewed -- from brakes and ATF to rear differential.
New tires!
New battery, new radiator, thermostat, front pads, front& rear window seals and new headliner!
All NEW fuel system filters from the tank to injectors!
Other new parts included:
Air intake rubber, radiator hose, transmission filter, exhaust rubbers, water pump & All the belts!
The bad:
The seats feel & look fine; although there was more horse-hair in the seats when new.
A grey sheep-hide cover discolored the drivers seat slightly.
The factory AC works; but needs a recharge.
Two small rust spots as shown in photos.
Rear package tray not the correct bamboo carpet.
I drive the car, so mileage will go up small amount.
Not a show car; but a very clean and complete original car.
Sold as shown with clean CA title, original service book & pre-delivery of sale for, stack of receipts & service orders (going back to the 90's), owners manual, a few extra filters, spare tire, 4 hub caps and a car cover.
This car is available for inspection in Pasadena,California.
Sold to highest bidder with no reserve!
For those folks that are concerned about provenance, the car was originally sold by Butts of Santa Barbara to publishing tycoon and race car driver Hastings Harcourt!
This W115 chassis is a very practical classic car, made in a time before planned obsolescence.
One of the few cars to probably still be on the road in another 42 years.
