1986 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class 300SL Additional Info:
This vehicle is a Euro Model 300SL. It has the automatic with a Sport/Economy mode. The original owner bought this on a European vacation and had it imported. He then sold it to family friends who have owned it for around 15 years. The paint and interior of this car is almost flawless. You need to get the light just right to see any dings or chips. My friend's wife loves this car but due to loosing her eyesight the time has come to let it go. It has been garaged it's entire life here in San Diego County. The car has a California scannable sticker used for smog checks etc. It has never had an accident and looks incredible. I had it at my home for a couple of days to take pictures and give it a once over. Everything on the car appears to be working with the exception of the clock. The original radio is in the trunk. I did see some oil weeping on the engine. It didn't drop any oil on my garage floor but it is weeping. I torqued the valve cover bolts as it looked that may have been the cause. The seat tracks needed some lube and that's about it. I can tell you it runs and drives smoothly and is rattle free. I really like the look of the smaller Euro bumpers compared to the U.S. version. I've read the 6 cylinder with it's lighter weight handle better than the U.S. 8 cylinder versions and it makes close to the same horsepower as the U.S. Model. I own a newer SLK Mercedes and this one got compliments everywhere I went. It's not dropping in value like mine either. I don't know what else to say. I can make arrangements to show the car if you are in or near San Diego County.
