Hi, I’m selling my 560SEL that I’ve owned for a few months. My father and I are Mercedes enthusiasts and our fleet currently includes a 1997 S600 Coupe a 2003 CL55 and this was our newest addition. I’ve come to love this car in our short ownership it is a thoroughly charming and civilized car with autobahn composure and bank vault reminiscent build quality. I am in need of a new camera as my previous Nikon D800 broke I would rather not sell this car but I need the money and We have too many cars to deal with at the moment. A little TLC is needed but this car will be a fantastic example with a small amount of work, recently we swapped the battery with a slightly used one replaced both fuel pumps, the coolant overflow tank, and the alternator. With minimal time and a conservative amount of money and this charming w126 could make a great driver or a fantastic add on to any affordable car collection preferably one with multiple 4500-5000lb behemoth Mercs like us! ;)
Pros.
Car runs excellent
Clearcoat is in fantastic shape no peeling or discoloration whatsoever
california car its whole verifiable life
engine performs nicely and is smooth with ample torque
transmission shifts well and my mechanic a former MB dealer mechanic believes the transmission to have been
rebuilt recently
interior is in fantastic shape, leather is supple not torn or discolored with minimal wear, no cracks in the dash, door panels are great, headliner is great and the rear power bench is great as well.
Power mirror works, Power seats work in all positions left and right as well as rear reclining bench, Sunroof works, All window motors are fine but rear switches don’t work as well as the right rear window Front and Rear switchneither front or back function properly (window may go down but not up, window is currently up)
tires are in good shape
Current Ca Reg through AUG 2018
Smogged
Clean Title
No reported accidents
Carfax on hand
Ac is cold but Blower isn't strong may need fuse or fan motor.
Cons
drivers door needs to be closed firmly to properly latch
central locking works intermittently
small section of rust under rear windshield not very noticeable size of a penny or smaller
needs a radio
suspension pump may require future attention but maintains level
has a number of small dings, a few dents near the front headlight and a few small scratches on the car (mostly straight though with few scratches)
center console cover needs to be glued
needs alignment
needs right headlight, we have a corner light. The headlight lights properly but as you can see the glass lens is broken.
right rear window switch control in the front works for down not up the motor is fine but the switch doesn’t work
rear window switches are not working as well the power bench can be reclined with left side switch and returned to upright with right side switch.
could use some touch-up paint on the grey trim
Tinting needs removed or replaced.
This car is not perfect but for its age it is pretty damn good, its miles from a parts car and it's no show car as well. With some TLC this will make a great driver or garage queen it's fantastically preserved but it's not entirely what it could be. This is a terrific place to take over as almost everything works and is in very good visual condition for 27 years of age, it also is registered smogged and runs and drives well. I have avoided listing this car for the last week because I've grown attached to the venerable idea of adding it to our depreciation fleet but I need the money so here we are! I can help arrange with shipping if wanted and if you have any questions concerns or want to know more please send me a message or text me at 2132848195 the car is located in Los Angeles.
