1988 Mercedes-Benz 500-Series 560SL Additional Info:
BECAUSE LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO DRIVE A BORING CAR!!! THE CLASSIC CAR GALLERY 3266 POST RD SOUTHPORT, CT, 06890 203-446-4172 198 MERCEDES 560 SL “73,380 Miles, lots of documented recent work, excellent driver, well sorted, up to date on all services, cold a/c” VIN WDBBA48D1JA075773 The Mercedes Benz 560SL, also known as the “107” body style, is one of the most recognized and celebrated automotive style icons of the 1970’s and 80’s. They are known as the pagoda style convertibles, combining vault-like build quality with excellent engineering and performance. With a sturdy removable hard top and an excellent all weather canvas convertible top, these cars offer a high level of year round practicality, style and performance. In their day, these cars were bought by the discerning enthusiasts, and the design has stood the test of time. The “107” body has now reached collector status, and low mileage, well maintained examples have become rare and collectable. The car on offer here is a 1988 Mercedes Benz 560SL. This iconic car has 73,380 original miles. In the past 4 years, she has received numerous upgrades, including but not limited to, an updated A/C system including conversion to R134 (new compressor, condenser, evaporator and hoses), new steering box and damper, full engine service, new brake pads and rotors, new shocks (2013) front and rear, all suspension links (including tie rods and all bushings), new alternator, and a new radiator. The body and WHITE paint are very nice with deep shine and luster. The underside of the car is in excellent condition. The BLUE interior leather is supple with a nice patina; the dash has some minor cracks (a common problem with these). The wood veneers are nice, but do show some cracking on the shift console. The car has the rare “kinder seat” option. All gauges and ancillary components work as they should. The motor runs beautifully, and has no issues. The transmission shifts smoothly, and has had a recent service. The BLUE convertible top is new and in excellent condition, the top mechanism works as it should. The shocks have been replaced and the car handles well. The exhaust system was replaced in 2013. The brakes are new (front and rear pads and rotors) in 2016, as is the fuel pump and filter. The hardtop is likewise in excellent condition (the car comes with its hard top trolley and car cover). The A/C and the heat work well, but the HVAC vents dont work well (also a common problem on these cars). The original radio is still in the car and it works well. The tires have plenty of tread left and the original wheels are in excellent condition. This is a lovely example, of the iconic Mercedes convertible, it has been well sorted and runs and drives beautifully. Mechanically as well as cosmetically, she is a lovely. The car has a clean Carfax, available upon request. Please feel free to call us at 203-446-4172 if we can answer any questions.
