1988 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Additional Info:
I am selling my parents' 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL in excellent condition. My dad purchased this car at a charity auction in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2010 and is the second owner to our knowledge. This Mercedes has been garaged and well cared-for her entire life. She is rust-free, leak-free, and the engine is healthy and strong. She drives straight and true, has lots of power, and stops as she should.
The paint is original and excellent with a few exceptions which I detail below. The leather interior is as perfect as can be with no tears or stains and virtually no discoloration exceptfor the armrest which shows some wear but has no tears. The headliner and carpet are virtually perfect.
My parents did not want to sell the 560SL themselves, so I drove it to St. Louis where I live to sell it for them. It has a clean title, current Oklahoma tags, and current insurance. I have the signed and notarized title in hand, ready to fill-out the rest of the way for the new owner. I can put prospective buyers in touch with my father if there are questions I cannot answer.
I dutifully ran the 560SL through its paces on the six-hour drive from Tulsa to St. Louis in early August so I could list it as accurately as possible. It's fun to drive a Mercedes on the interstate. The engine runs strong and sounds great. I ran it up to 110 mph for one mile and the car handled perfectly and was quite willing to keep going. I did not want to push my luck with the Highway Patrol. The alignment is perfect. There are no detectible vibrations. The brakes are good and do not grab or pull. We got sime rain at the tail end of the drive; I noticed a little squeaking in the brakes the next day, but I consider that normal.
The Good- Accident-free- Paint is virtually perfect- Leather interior is virtually perfect- Headliner is virtually perfect- Dash is perfect, crack-free, evidence of life spent indoors- Soft top is virtually perfect, plastic is like new- Engine/belts/hoses were recently inspected and oil changed- Cruise control works- Power windows work- All lights work- Engine runs strong- Tires have 50% tread- Wheels are very good and show no signs of rust- No rust anywhere on the car that I can find- New rear shocks 2010- New motor mounts 2010- Front end alignment 2010- New radio antennae motor 2010- New battery 2016- The car comes with a pretty slick holder for the hard top (see photo). Is has casters so you can wheel it around the garage out of the way. There is also a fabric cover for the hard top.
The Bad- The A/C does not blow cold air. It has as recently as 2010, but does not now.- The vents do not switch from floor to dash etc. very enthusiastically.- There are some small paint chips on the passenger side door and fender (see photo)- There is a very small, raised circular dent in the hood deck as if it was closed on something slightly too tall one time in the past. It is hard to see and even harder to photograph, so I didn't include a photo.- The wood trim in the lower console below the shifter has a crack in the clear coat (see photo)- The hand lever in the rear of the compartment behind the seats which latches the hard and soft tops is missing its decorative cover.- The leather armrest shows wear and is somewhat discolored but does not have any tears and is soft.
Other Terms- $500 non-refundable deposit via PayPal due within 48 hours- Full payment due in cash in-person or via wire transfer within seven days.- This pristine 560SL is sold as-is, where-is. Buyer is responsible for shipping or pickup (St. Louis, Missouri).- You are welcome to come test drive the car in-person prior to auction close.
This is areally nice car. I have done my best to describe its condition as accurately as possible. If I had extra money and an extra garage space, I'd find a way to buy it myself.
Please ask any questions prior to bidding!

Note: The small, raised circular dent is on the trunk deck, not the hood as I stated in the original listing.
