1990 Mercedes-Benz S-Class 300SE Additional Info:
We're moving and selling our 1990 Mercedes 300SE. It's a fourth vehicle so we don't want to pay for storage. Garage-kept. No smokers. It has 92k original miles (averaging 3,400 per year).
This is a solid car from an era when Mercedes were over-engineered. The doors close with a thunk. Traditional Mercedes styling. It was designed by Bruno Sacco and is perhaps the most beautiful S-Class ever produced.
The exterior is classic Mercedes two-tone: champagne over light gray bumpers/side cladding. The paint is presentable but imperfections and some fading exist after 27 years in use. New headlight doors replaced the faded originals in May. New bulbs front and rear.
The cream/tan interior is in very nice shape. The leather seating shows little wear. The dash has no cracks or apparent fading. All gaugeswork properly. The zebrano wood trim is glossy except for the trim surrounding the gear selector. It has aged and could be replaced with a salvage yard or eBay find. Power windows work save for the rear passenger side. The AC is weak but air blows hard and heat is fine. Sunroof opens and closes smoothly. The vinyl headliner is in great shape with no drooping or tears. Cruise control does not work. Original Becker radio (with cassette!) and retractable antenna operate correctly.
We've done oil/filter change, new plugs, air filter, power steering fluid/filter, brake fluid. Oil pressure is good, no leaks (head gasket was serviced at 85k). New tires at 89k (just 3k miles on them). New serpentine belt at 90k. Ignition can sometimes require a second twist of the key (something we've read is a common trait for W126 of this vintage). Once fired up, the engine idles smoothly. Front suspension was updated at 90k. On braking, the driver's front wheel undulates slightly. The car drives straight and rides smoothly.
As we mentioned, this is a fourth vehicle and we're moving. We'd rather not store. Any questions, please ask. We're happy to send more photos, show more detail, etc.
