1976 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series Additional Info:
This car is pretty solid for its age. It was brought into my father in laws shop for repairs by the previous owner earlier this year with a bad starter and battery after it had sat for some time in a storage garage. He replaced the starter and then car just wouldn't crank. After further checking into it the car doesn't have real good compression. Stuck rings from sitting? Whatever the reason the owner decided it would cost to much for him to repair and said not to do any more work to it. My father in law ended up with the car (with a clear signed Florida title) and asked me to list it on here to try to get his money for his labor and maybe make a profit.
What are you getting with this car? As a guy who has restored many cars I see a car that is solid with minimal rust. It really just needs a good washing. Unfortunately the right front was damaged when we were moving it into the yard from the garage (see pics). There is a leak somewhere that lets water in as the carpet was moist after we moved it outside and we had a bad rainstorm. The interior just needs a thorough cleaning with normal issues like a tear in the drivers seat. Headliner is good and doors just need cleaned. Tires are junk. Good thing is tires are cheap. $100 would put four new ones on the car but he would rather not invest any more money into it.
Any diesel mechanic can have this car fixed in minimal time with potential for a good profit. These cars are still pulling in 10k in good running condition. Between my father in law and I we just have to many projects going to touch this one so here is your opportunity to either own a Mercedes or have a car that is sure to make a good profit for whomever fixes it.
Car must be picked up from his garage near Silver Springs Florida and trailered. I may be able to deliver it for a negotiable fee depending on distance.
If you have any questions feel free to ask. I will do my best to answer. I personally am not a diesel mechanic but I will refer all motor related questions to my father in law. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
