1977 Mercedes-Benz 400-Series 450 SEL Additional Info:
Thank youfor taking a look at my 1977 Mercedes-benz 450 SEL 4.5. This car was owned by it original owners until recently when they moved toFloridafor retirement. It then changed hands to aprivate party from whom I purchased it, refurbished it, and got it in running condition.
Positive points about this car:
The paint appears to have been re-sprayed once in the original Icon Gold color and presents very well with minimal overspray and defects.
Alldocumentationcomes with the car including the original Mercedes-Benz providedmaintenance book with oilchanges andmaintenance completed at a mercedes benz dealer anddocumented up until approx 90K miles of ownership.
Refurbished interior with any worn materials or components having been replaced and cleaned.
Compression has been tested and is even with 5% across all 8 cylinders at approx 150 psi.
Door locks andvacuum operated climate control are in goodworking order.
Virtually zero rust on the entire car as it was garagekept its entire life
Clean PA title
This car hasrecentlyreceived the followingmaintenance items:
Fresh oil and filter
Fuel injectors,o rings & seals
Valve cover gaskets
Rebuilt fuel distributor
Removed and flushed fuel tank
New in tank strainer, lines, pump, filter, and fuel accumulator
Spark plugs, cap, and rotor
Throttle linkage bushings
coolant flush
Things not working or minor issues:
Radio does not work
AC could use a recharge
small area of rust forming at bottom of right rear wheel well and on verybottom of one front fender under bumper.
Cruise control does not work
There is anexhaust leak present that can be heard with the windows down on the passenger side.
Car has a slight cold start issue coupled with some hesitation until it is warmed upunder partial throttle. I have been told this may be a series ofvacuum leaks or possibly a faulty warm up regulator. It starts every time, but sometimes cranks for longer before sputtering to life. Warmstarts are great and car roars tolife.
Suspension bushings are old and while in decent shape I'm sure some could use replacement.
Steering box could use an adjustment.
I have done my best to describe this car in thorough detail. Being that it is a 40 year old car it may have some minor issues or quirks, however Ibelieve this car is in good shape for its age and has beengenuinely well taken care of by its previous owners. It could use some slight TLC by its next owner, but is for sure a well preserved classic that shows very well at local meets.
