This is a wonderfully preserved european Mercedes imported as a grey market car (imported by an individual and not sold by Mercedes in the US as a new car). The original owner had a $7000 body kit welded onto the body substantially changing the lines of the car, replaced the interior with white leather, replaced the wheels with AMG wheels and then drove it very seldom. (There is a safe in the glove compartment so he/she may have been in a business which gives people vacations in places with bars and no access to their cars). You can see from the carfax that it has many years with very little use and it was just 30,000 miles when I got it a couple of years ago. It was then difficult to get to run smoothly which we decided was caused by old fuel deposited in the intake system. So we replaced the entire intake and distribution system and it now runs beautifully, strong and smooth. The VIN number on the car is WDB1070461A010441 and is not listed as a car sold new in the US, which it was not. This is the 500SL which is the higher power by quite a bit of the three V8 roadsters, 380SL and the 560SL both nice cars but relatively under powered by comparison.The stereo in this car was very expensive but old and not working well so I replaced it with a modern unit with CD player and good output. This is a very nice car and is quite different from a normally produced Mercedes SL so please don't think that it will be sold for a price similar to the value of a normal Mercedes SL.
