1989 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class SL Additional Info:
1989 560SL, Signal Red with Cream/Biege interior. A nice example of a final year SL that you can't lose money on. This car is a original paint and interior car. Excellent veneers and dash. HVAC all works properly and the original Becker Grand Prix radio is included as well. The chain and guides as well as filters and fluids were all recently exchanged on this car. It's a nice running and driving example of a final year SL.
This car has a interesting history. The car was owned by Coty New York, Coty is a 9 billion dollar a year corporation that owns brands like Calvin Klein, Covergirl, Clairol, ect. This car was used in countless print ads back in the 80's and early 90's, then reduced to a VIP car for celebrities and executives for summer drives to the Hamptons. In speaking with Coty executives, this car was a favorite of Farrah Fawcett, Calvin Klein, and many others. It was always serviced at Mercedes Benz and always garaged kept and never used in the winter.
The car sat for some time and was sold by Coty with some other vintage Mercedes owned by the pharmaceutical giant Pfizer at the time. The car was then gone through to make sure everything was in top running condition, including the all important chain and guides. The history on the car is well documented.
This car is not perfect, but the price reflects that, and the big things like original paint, no dash cracks, ect. speak volumes.
The car also had a open checkbook maintenance history.
I often receive phone calls from people asking me about what color SL to buy, what to look out for, ect. So, I thought I'd throw together a little video below that you could watch and learn a thing or two and maybe save yourself from some of the mistakes I made when I first bought one of these in 1998.
A little bit about your seller: I have been collecting, trading, and wrenching on R107 Mercedes since the late 1990's. I have owned over 100 560SL's and have worked on a exponentially higher amount of them. While I consider myself no expert, I have a passion for these cars and know enough to be dangerous. I travel the country seeking out nice, unmolested vintage Mercedes for my own collection or to trade. Recently, I've been exporting a lot of these cars back to Germany. You have to remember, just like to 500SL R107 was never offered for US sale, the 560SL is a rarity in Europe. I travel by car, train, and airplane to find these cars and dismiss most of the cars I look at. I am a avid aviator and use any excuse I can to fly. As a licensed appraiser, I often inspect these cars for others, and usually know where "one is" that you might be looking for that I can list here on eBay.
I created a new eBay account strictly for my cars. My other ebay account has over 500+ feedback and 100 as a seller. Rest assured, I know a thing or two about these cars.
This car is offered for sale locally and in the event of a local sale, the auction can and will be ended at anytime. We can assist with shipping as well, we own a logistics company. You can call at any reasonable hour at 331 207 4172
