For Sale 1985 Mercedes 500SEL AMG
Very seldom seem car. I’ve only seen two others similar to it in person ever, and one was in Germany and the other was a 600SEL. I’ve owned this car for 15 years and it has been very well maintained and is completely road worthy and is original other than standard wear items. The car has been a semi-regular driver while I’ve owned it, but has not been driven in salt according to previous owners and under my use, and the condition of the body and underside reflects that. The very expensive idle control valve (new from Europe) and idle control module (rebuilt by ProgRama) have recently been replaced to fix the dreaded Mercedes high idle. The engine and transmission are very strong. It is not a concourse car, but is very presentable for a 30+ year old driver and gets a lot of attention. In my probably biased opinion, the 500SEL AMGs are probably the best and most sinister looking four door sedans made up until the last few years. It has AMG floormats and steering wheel as well as the full body kit.
If you know history of Mercedes cars, this is a gray market car as 500SELs were never officially imported, and I believe were only made for two years. Some of the controls are in German. It can be tuned to pass emissions tests, but would be likely be best sent to a state with exemptions for older cars. Don’t go here if you want a gas mileage champ – 15 MPG on a good day! The flaws are minor but I am not trying to mislead anyone, and I can email pictures showing them. They include:
Reason for sale – My daughters are just about driving age, and I need the garage space for something more suitable for their regular year round use. This car deserves better than that. Ebay wouldn't accept VIN - it is WDB1260371A122489
