Offered for sale is a stunning 1978 Mercedes Benz 450sl convertible with a folding soft top and a hard top (BTW the top comes with a portable stand). It has never been in an accident or incident nor do I believe has it ever spent a night outside. This is a three owner beauty. I know and am friendly with both previous owners. The first owner's Dad bought it for his daughter and she had it from new to about six years ago (2010). It was meticulously maintained by the selling dealer or other Mercedes Dealers. She advertised and sold it by chance to another friend of mine who purchased the car and put about $8,000.00 into the engine and drive train. They ran out of room and knew I collect and worked on old classics and offered it to me. I have had it for over a year and now need to sell it to make room for another classic Jaguar that I just purchased since I want to only continue to collect and maintain that make. Anyway, his vehicle may have one or two very minor scratches that would be hard to find, ut absolutely no dents or body problems. The chrome is lovely and there are no cracks in any of the light lenses. There are no tears, ips or holes in any of the rubber or trim pieces. Included with the parts are touch up paints as well as spray paint to include the clear coat. I have just (Feb 2016) completely changed out the plugs, ires and rotor. It starts, uns well and there are no tears on the cream upholstery. The dash has the splits as are so normal on these SLs. I don't know why since there is an OEM dash and steering wheel cover that was obviously not used !! Please note that the sun visors have been refilled but upon close observation, t can be seen where they were cut on the edge and resealed. The five tires have a lot of tread left and all rims are OEM. The underneath is very clean and all glass is without cracks or dings (to include the fog lights). The front underneath spoiler is not torn or cracked. Cruise control recently stopped working and if I have time, will try to trace it down. Think it is a fuse. The soft top is new but unfortunately, omeone has cut into one side when it was parked, bviously trying to steal it. The cut has been sealed water, ested and it does not leak. There is a new battery recently purchased as well as a new radio. The original jack and German tool set are included as well as owner's manual, arts book and maintenance book. The only items I have found not working are: the air conditioning which has a leak that I have chosen not to repair. I've had it up to 30 past the Interstate speed and it runs well. I am not into selling "a pig in a poke" and the above is the best information I know. The car is road ready. This classic is being sold as is where is, ick up or you arrange for shipping. Make me an offer, t has to be sold !! More than happy to respond to any questions or provide more photos. Thanks for looking.
