1964 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series SL Additional Info:
This nice Mercedes Pagoda two tops was purchased new by owner for 35 years in Germany when he was an officer in the US military. He imported it to Oregon and did a restoration by fully remanufacturing the engine and drive train, new leather seats, high dollar multilayer paint, new carpet, newGerman weave soft top installedand anything else as needed. A rust free example as shown in the underneath pictures. Will drive across country if desired we believe. A classic 230 SL in restored condition, the sought after manual 4 speed transmission. It has no evidence of accident that we could detect. It has aluminum body panels, double wishbone front suspension, Mercedes engineers built an extremely quick car that out classed many performance oriented sports cars of the day. To demonstrate this, Rudolf Uhlenhauf set a lap time at Annemasse Vetras-Monthoux racetrack of .2 seconds slower than a V12 Ferrari 250 GT racecar. The paint, interior, tops and mechanically this vehicle is excellent, nice clean wood trim, great tires and durable leather seats added. Original radioIt delivers 150 hp and 145 lb-ft. Bosch's mechanical multiport fuel injection system, which was very advanced for its time. Power frond disc brakes and boosted power rear drum brakes allow this Mercedes to come to an elegant and safe stop.
