1961 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series Additional Info:
For sale are two Mercedes.
The first, a 1961 is not running. Last documented running was about 10 years ago, although when I purchased, it was claimed that it was started about 5 years ago. I have not attempted to start it. The history on the car is not well documented with only a few clues. The car is solid with rust in rear quarters, but floor is generally very good. The leather interior is in striking condition without cracks or tears. I bought the car with the thought that I would switch the interior into the car also listed here, but there's a diminishing chance I'll get to it, and I also think it's too nice a car to pick through. The car is carbureted with a three on the tree.
The second, a 1970 280SE runs beautifully and has had a fair amount of work done by my mechaninc in the last 2 years. Among other things, gas tank redone, lines, brakes, tires, exhuast. The car has a clear history. The mileage on the odometer has about 130k and the paper trail supports that. I purchased from second owner, who I knew, who purchased in 1977. He repainted about 15 years ago, but the prep work wasn't great, and there was sandpapery surface rust coming up in some areas. I removed the paint in those areas and treated with a rust inhibitor. An example is in the photos. But overall, this car is extremely solid. I have driven distances at 80mph without issue. The interior is MB tex and is pretty good. The car is fuel injected with a 4 spd auto.
Both cars are very solid, complete and original. I know that I haven't put a ton of detail into these ads, but am happy to discuss further with people with serious interest in them.
