1991 Mazda MX-5 Miata Additional Info:
Classic car collector offering this very rare, always garaged, limited edition (#1827/4000, custom factory plaque on console) 1991 British Racing Green (BRG) first generation Miata. This was the first limited edition Miata and Mazda loaded the car with all available options (cruise control, a/c, electric windows, headrest speakers etc). This is a rust free southern car that has had one respray about 5 years ago. Making it even rarer is that it has an automatic transmission... I am told less than 50 of the limited edition cars were sold with the automatic.
I own three first generation Miata's and need garage space for a new car in my collection. The car starts, runs and drives flawlessly. While I'm one of those car guys who prefers a stick over an automatic, I must admit that on manyoccasions(city traffic and around town cruising) the automatic has been a pleasant and preferred driving experience. And let's face it, some folks can't or won't drive a manual. I bought this automatic, to be honest, because I simply couldn't afford the 5-speed BRG version, examples of which have recently crossed the $12,000 barrier. The new owner will be acquiring a fast appreciating classic.
Since the first of the year the following items have been done:
new batterynew Butzi wheels (tires are nearly new)new wind blocker behind the front seatsnew headrest speakerssynthetic oil/filter change, new thermostat and state inspection from the local Mazda Dealernew trunk mounted luggage racka/c charged two weeks ago
Mileage is 102,700. The timing belt, as per prior owner, was changed at 78,000 miles. The previous owner also added a new black canvas convertible top (more durable than the factory vinyl) with a clear rear plastic window (does not zipper out). The tan leather seats are in nice shape (see photo's) with some typical minor cracking but no seam splits or tears. Factory Miata floor mats. The original cassette stereo has been replaced with a new Sony CD stereo. Tan boot cover is in great shape.
