The sale of this vehicle DOES NOT include the engine. The short block, intake manifolds, and throttle body are not included in the sale. I have lots of extra pictures and videos. The car was running and driving when parked and the engine had 90psi on all faces, thus no damage to the turbo. THE CAR IS SOLD AS-IS.
This should be considered a project car or a parts car. I am selling because the car had a lot of work left to get it to a the place I originally envisioned. I decided to abandon the project and downsize a car from my collection. I removed the 3-rotor engine for use in another vehicle. Some of the parts/systems will be delivered loose, disassembled from the car.
The Chassis is a 1990 Eunos Cosmo Type-S (Sport), properly imported from Japan 10 years ago under the 25+ year old rule. I have a clean Minnesota Title for the car. It is not a CCS car, (does NOT have the touch screen Sat Nav car computer). THIS CAR IS RIGHT HAND DRIVE.
This listing / sale includes a number of performance parts and systems. Buyer is getting a rolling chassis that DOES NOT RUN or DRIVE.
SINGLE TURBO SYSTEMThe sale will include a single turbo conversion (for a 20B 3-rotor engine) which was designed, fabricated and installed by Turbosource / Turblown. All connections/couplings are v-band (no bolted flanges with gaskets). The system includes a custom manifold (welded), Borg Warner 9180 turbo, large front mount aftermarket intercooler, 4" down pipe, external Turbosmart wastegate, and Inconel heat shielding for the turbo hot side, downpipe, and wastegate pipe. There are bungs for exhaust gas temp sensors in all 3 runners. The system will include all charge size piping from the cold side of the turbo to the throttle body (but does not include the throttle body). The system only has a few hundred miles on it. The turbo and all associated components are in excellent condition. The larger intercooler sits in the stock location. The turbo system is designed to utilize the stock air box but a of course could also accommodate an aftermarket filter.
EXHAUSTThe exhaust is a fully TIG welded stainless system with a 4" main, split into twin 2.5" pipes and Racing Beat mufflers at the back. All joints/couplings are v-band. All hangers were replaced. The exhaust connects to the downpipe with a V-band coupler also.
ECU / STANDALONE ENGINE MANAGEMENTThe sale will include a tuned Adaptronic Modular ECU and Rywire custom, labeled, engine wiring harness. The tune was mostly complete. The boost was never turned up from spring pressure (10psi).
IGNITIONThe sale includes IGN-1A coils with a custom mounting bracket, aftermarket wires, and the full ignition wiring harness with relays.
FUEL SYSTEMThe factory fuel tank was completely refurbished and internally coated by Gas Tank Renu of Minnesota. Thus it is fully lined with a poly coating to prevent corrosion. The fuel pump was replaced with a Walbro 525 LPR unit.The sale includes a fully custom fuel system from the firewall forward. All lines are -6 AN braided stainless. There is a adjustable FPR. The fuel rails are Full Function Engineering Billet Aluminum. The primary injectors are ID1300s and the secondary injectors are ID1700s. All aftermarket components have only a few hundred miles on them.
BODY/CHASSISThe chassis has very little rust on it. The body appears rust free from visual inspection. I do not know what the sheet metal looks like under the factory body kit. The car has been painted and there are a few spots the paint is pealing (indented seams). The paint is not a factory color from what I can tell. The car was painted in Japan prior to export to the USA.
The front grill between the headlights is missing, but all other body panels are present and included in the sale. The paint has scuffs and scratches. I believe some good paint correction could get most of it out. There is one good size gouge in the paint work on the left side of the rear bumper. There is a dent on the left rear quarter panel that may be addressable with paintless dent repair. The front body kit bumper cover is cracked and needs to repair and paint.
The unibody, suspension, subframes etc are mostly rust free and it is all solid. There is some surface rust in spots but no extensive structural degradation.
INTERIORThe stock Tan interior has a fair amount of wear but is mostly intact. The steering column surround trim is missing. The stock steering wheel has been replaced with a matching MOMO wheel.The Burl wood trim was removed and would need some repair to reinstall. It is in rough shape and was going to be painted prior to reinstallation.
TRANSMISSIONThe stock transmission will be included with the sale. The transmission control was never sorted as part of the build. There may be issues with the transmission mechanically. The transmission did not work properly after all the other mechanical and electronic upgrades. The buyer should assume the transmission is not functional or for parts only.
DRIVETRAINThe stock driveshaft, rear differential, and axles are in good working condition.
BRAKESThe car currently has the stock brakes, which were functional (other than potentially the ABS). The sale will include a FULL WILWOOD BIG BRAKE KIT for the front and rear. The kit is NOT INSTALLED. The kit includes larger rotors, larger calipers front and rear, new lines, new pads, etc.
COOLING
The sale will include the car's factory oil cooler in the stock location and all factory oil cooler lines. The car was retrofit with an additional Setrab transmission cooler in the corner opposite the factory oil cooler.
POWER STEERINGThe car will be sold with the complete Factory Power Steering System. It all worked properly when the car was still driving.
AIR CONDITIONINGThe car will be sold with a complete factory air conditioning system. But, the system did not work very well. It should be considered non-functional.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEMSThe car's electrical systems all seemed to work properly other than the following:- The Tachometer in the instrument cluster in front of the driver does not work. A SPARE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS INCLUDED with the sale, which I believe has a working tachometer. It may be that combining parts from both clusters would create a single 100% functional cluster. No guarantees. The ABS warning light is illuminated. It has not been investigated. The Exh overheat light is illuminated. This issue has also not been investigated.
WHEELS and TIRESThe wheels and tires are JUNK. The wheels are 18" RX-8 Wheels painted black and have lots of wear. The tires are only suitable for moving the car around. They should not be used on public roads and are not safe to drive on.
SUSPENSIONThere are aftermarket adjustable coil overs. The brand is not known. These were installed prior to importing. Maybe BC racing?
OTHER ISSUESThe power side mirrors (folding and adjustment) do not work correctly.The windows are relatively loose in the doors. It may need new regulators or just replacement of some rollers and/or hardware.The IAQ box does not function.
This car, while solid, does have 35 years of wear. THE SALE DOES NOT INCLUDE THE 3-ROTOR ENGINE BLOCK.
