1991 Mazda MX-5 Miata Additional Info:

Up for sale is my fun little MX5. This is a clean, well cared for California car that has been owned and maintained by an adult and licenced aircraft mechanic. I am a big proponent of "preventative maintenance", so MANY parts have been replaced BEFORE they became a problem. In the time I've owned this car I've slowly made improvements to the point that it is very reliable. I wouldn't hesitate to jump in this car and drive it to Maine.
Last year I decided to a major tune up/cooling system overhaul. I replaced the starter, timing belt, water pump, thermostat, radiator, all hoses, spark plugs and wires, as well as OEM style shocks and brake pads. I didn't want a radiator with plastic caps, so I had to buy a Mishimoto Racing radiator in order to get all aluminum. The purpose of this was to get the best radiator money could buy, not so I could race it. Consider this the ultimate Sunday driver with cooling to take you to Death Valley and back.
The steering is tight and crisp. The shifts are short, positive and satisfying, the clutch is perfectly tuned (and replaced by previous owner) and the suspension feels confident and planted.
This being a 25 year old car, there are some minor flaws. See pictures for various little dings and cracks. A previous owner had it painted, but it was a quality job and it shines very nicely. There is a crack in the back plastic panel near the tail light. IT HAS BEEN FIXED. I actually removed the entire panel and fiberglassed the entire backside. For a weight penalty of a few ounces of cloth and resin, that panel would survive a donkey kick. It wont crack any further.
The interior shows well for its age with only minor fading and wear. No major rips or flaws. looks very original. The previous owner had a fancy new stereo in it and i was worried it would be a target for theft (and potentially a slashed top) so I removed it and stuck a factory radio in the hole. I never bothered to hook up the radio. This is a car I used to take scenic drives alone with my thoughts. I never missed the radio.
It is equipped with A/C but it is a little weak and could use a recharge for those really hot days. Again, this was a toy for nice days, so I wasn't concerned with the AC.
Besides the AC and radio, ABSOLUTLY EVERYTHING WORKS and works well.
Other than the few little dings pictured, EVERYTHING LOOKS FANTASTIC.
The top is LIKE NEW
This isn't a show queen with low miles and a trophy, but it is a very good looking, good running driver's car. She has a few miles on her, but she has been loved and maintained.
I'm only selling because I have been made an offer I cant refuse on another "toy" car and I can't have too many toys.
THE FINE PRINT:
Car is sold as is, where is. I have represented the condition of the car to the best of my knowledge, but it just makes good sense for the potential buyer to give it a thorough inspection. The thing is 25 years old and not brand new! If you find anything wrong with the car, I'll gladly refund your deposit and cancel the sale. Once it leaves though, she's all yours. Local pickup, or I will gladly hand the keys to any truck driver you arrange for. Immediate deposit of $200 required, or cash/cashiers check in person, standing in the lobby of my bank when you pick the car up. Car must be picked up with 7 days, or at least within 7 days you must have contacted me to make other arrangements (For instance you are flying in and need more time or want to arrange for your mechanic to come with you, etc.)
The car is available to be shown and driven in Riverbank California.
I will be on vacation and un-available June 18th through 26th.
For CALIFORNIA buyers only:
If you plan on keeping this car in California, I will have it smogged upon receipt of your deposit for no extra charge. I just would rather save the $50 if the car ends up going out of state. It always passes with flying colors, so I'm sure it will pass.
