1980 Mazda 323 GTR Additional Info:
Selling my imported right hand drive Mazda Familia (323) GTR. Mazda produced only 2500 of these cars worldwide for WRC homogolation purpose none of which were sold in the US. This vehicle was imported under the 25+ year exemption and has all the proper paperwork and a clean Massachusetts title in my name. The car is similar to our previous generation Mazda 323 GTX in that it also has a turbo 4 cylinder engine mated to an AWD system but instead of 140hp this GTR had 210hp from the factory. It also has a close ration transmission, front and rear LSD, leather/suede interior, and of course the exterior features. All the body panels are OEM on this car, the side skirts and rear mid spoiler are dealer optional pieces. Momo steering wheel is also OEM.
Mechanically the engine is similar to the 1.8 in the Miata so tune up parts are easily obtained. The car runs and drives excellent, recent ball joints and front brakes. The clutch only has about 8k miles.
Exterior is in fantastic condition, there are no dings/dents/exterior rust. Underneather is above average for this region (New England) but there is some surface rust (see pictures).
Small issues with the car are the drivers seat bolster is worn (see picture, have closeup available by email), door panel material is loose on the inserts only (again, have pictures available), and the floor mats are worn. Windows have been slow to roll up since the weather has gotten cold and the AC was removed for a front mount intercooler. The car has a little under 104k kilometers (65k miles) and may climb slightly as I do occasionally drive the car. The car has snow tires fitted.
Aftermarket parts include a large front mount intercooler from Greddy, a Turbosmart blow off valve, namesless cone filter, Corksport rear strut brace, Blitz boost gauge, and a Greddy electronic boost controller (runs about 12psi). There is a custom 3” exhaust from the turbo back.
This is a rare chance to own one of the forgotten WRC homogolation specials and I’m sure it will be quite a while before another will come up for sale in the US with paperwork. Any questions or requests for further pictures/videos please don’t hesitate to email me. Thank you
