1980 Mazda RX-7 LS (Leather sport) Additional Info:
Classic sports car for sale
First this is my wife's account, she is wanting to start selling on her account, so I am building her account up. I have been on EBay since 1998 and have over 500 transactions and 100% feedback. So please bid with confidence.
1st photo is from the summer so you could see paint in good sun. Overcast here and rest of photos from today 12/13. Stock wheels photo not great because it was in my shed.
I have been an RX-7 enthusiast for 30 years. You will not find a better 1st generation RX-7 than this one.
I am third owner. I personally know the 2nd owner as a friend. He bought it with around 52K miles. He owned it for about 25 years and it was a garage kept summer toy. I have had it about 8 years and have used it the same way. I have put less than 300 miles a year. All the fluids were changed at 101,000 miles, including motor oil, clutch, brake, transmission, rear end and coolant/antifreeze. This car was always maintained well.
It is a 1980, 5 speed with 104527 miles. Always Mazda dealer maintained and I have receipts going back to 1986 when my friend the 2nd owner had it. The Rx-7 is all original and is unmodified, with the exception of the 15" wheels. Tires are like new. Absolutely everything works on this car including power antenna and power side mirrors. The only thing that does not work are the period correct yellow fog lamps. Never checked why, but assume ground issue or fuse.
A/C works as it should along with heat. Windows go up and down smooth. Wipers great, etc. etc. The Leather seats are perfect with just slight surface wear to the drivers left bolster from entering and exiting the vehicle. but it is very slight.
This model is an LS. They made 3000 of these in 1980 with leather interior. 1,250 in the color black, 1,250 in white and only 500 in solar gold. This is 1 of 500 solar gold. Original paint is awesome.I have the original solar gold Mazda wheels also. They would clean up ok, but would really need refinished to be perfect.
I have several classic cars and I am just thinning the herd some.
My price is firm and no reserve. I paid $5000 for it and it is worth it for one with this few owners and documented service history.
Flaws- two surface rust spots on the common area of the drip channel under the rear hatchback glass. Have sanded and put zero rust on it before and the edges of the area need that again. Small chip/flake at edge of sunroof panel. (Photos of the areas provided) Rear struts on back glass are weak and need replaced and are available after market. 5 minute job, I just always propped it with my head. :) chrome plastic door handle grommets/covers need either glued or replaced, they are loose and can be seen in photos of door panels. This is common also. *also, the "M" on the Mazda logo was snapped off while I was taking the photos by a Ninja cat. Between the cold and his acrobatics the "M" was a casualty. I have already glued it back in place and it looks like it was before, but wanted to point that out. :) Also another common problem of these is the defrosting vents in the dash shrink up and no longer fit correctly, see dash photo. They can be replaced if you want but it never bothered me.
Owned all its life by mature adults and not abused. Lowballers keep moving, and don't bother.
Ask your wife, dog, boss or whomever you need to. Please don't bid unless you have the funds. A bank won't likely give you a loan on a 1980, so please have the funds available.
I will let you store it here in my shed under cover till spring and can help with your shipper. But car must be paid in full. Read that again, car must be paid in full.
