1991 Mazda MX-5 Miata Additional Info:
Up for sale is my father's 1991 Mazda Miata. I am helping him with the listing, but he is actively involved in the sale and will personally answer questions and show the car to potential buyers.
My father is the second owner since 1991. The first owner was a one legged WW2 vet who's widow sold it to my dad. At no point since it was built has this car been owned by anyone under the age of 60.
This is a true California survivor. No rust, garage kept, no damage. The factory white on these cars was notoriously bad quality paint. 25 years of sunday drives did leave it a little dull, so my dad had it professionally painted at a body shop two years ago. This was a $3000 down to metal paint job, not a Maaco respray. The only things not painted were the engine bay, trunk interior or door jambs. All bumpers, lights, trim and badges were removed for the paint job. It shines like new and gets looks and thumbs up wherever it goes.
This car comes with a factory hard top in pristine condition with a custom locking mechanism installed.
Also has the original soft top in decent shape. See photos for minor flaws.
Comes with two tonneau covers, one to protect the soft top while the hard top is installed, and one to cover the soft top while driving top down/off.
Interior in fantastic shape, including new Moss Miata leatherette seat covers professionally installed by interior shop. Note: these are replacement skins for the seats, the factory cloth was removed.
Mechanically sound with fresh tune up, new KYB shocks, new tires, new brakes. Car runs, drives, shifts, stops like new. Factory A/C installed but never serviced as my dad only drove this car on beautiful spring and fall days.
The two owners of this car were both avid car collectors with many other vehicles. As such, it was kept up like a museum piece its whole life. This car has never seen a wet road. The only reason my dad is selling is that he just bought a 2016 MX5, and out of the FOUR Miatas he owns, this one gets driven the least. So in order to make room, this one has to go.
My dad put a LOT of time and money into this car making it fantastic over the last couple years. This was his first Miata and he wanted to make it really nice for the big Miata reunion at Laguna Seca. He took it there, and a picture of it can be seen in the new Miata brochure.
I know this car will sell for much less than my dad has into it. He didn't worry about resale while fixing it up. Its a premium car, but someone is still going to get it for much less than the sum of its parts, paint and intrinsic value. You can hardly find a used car on the lot these days for less than 10 grand, unless its beat to hell. Here you have a like new collector car that will turn heads for around 5k. You just can't beat that.
Car can be shown in Escalon California by contacting me and making arrangements.
Immediate deposit of $300 required upon close of auction.Paypal OK. Balance to be paid after you have viewed the car and determined it to be everything I say it is. The balance can be cash, other secure payment, or Paypal, but if you use paypal I want you to send the balance to my father's account instead of this one so I dont have to turn around and transfer it to him. We can work out all those details when you see the car.
SHIPPING: READ BEFORE BIDDING: I have sold one other car on eBay out of my personal collection, and the buyer arranged for a truck to come get it. I would be fine with this arrangement again, but its up to you to hire the truck. If you look at my feedback history, the very last one was from that car sale. You can see the buyer was happy.
