I have owned this car since 2002 and I am the third owner. It was completely stock when I purchased it and has been moderately modified over the years. I am selling because I just don't have the time/interest in it anymore that I used to, and I will soon be moving to a place that's not really good for driving a car that deserves lots of long twisty roads. It has been garaged for most of its life and is in very good, but not perfect, condition both inside and out. About a year ago I took it on 2000+ mile road trip with no issues and a few months ago I used it as my daily driver for about two weeks, and I expect it would still be fine to do either.
I have records for most everything I've done to it over the years, as well as almost all the original parts for anything modified in case you want to put something back to stock. Also included are all the factory manuals in OEM hardcopies, wiring diagram, vacuum diagram, service highlight and bulletins, and a variety of literature and parts catalogs/info that pertain to this car. Title is clean and ready to transfer.
Also included with the car are a substantial amount of parts, some stock parts that were removed from this car, some purchased as spares, and a variety of aftermarket stuff that was intended to be installed, but I never got around to it.
Modififcations:
- Engine Rebuilt & streetported in 2007 by Rotorsports Racing -- original engine was not blown, but was out of the car at the time, so I decided to have it rebuilt/streetported and everything re-assembled by Rotorsports Racing of Kannapolis, NC- Apexi PFC engine computer with Commander and Dataloggit for on the spot tuning and PC hookup/logging- Dual oil coolers
- Fluidyne Aluminum Radiator
- ASP SMIC intercooler, Greddy elbow, efini y-pipe and custom piping to connect it to the intercooler
- M2 intake box
- Ceramic coated downpipe, Hi-Flow Cat, Re-Amemiya Cat-back exhaust (bought while I was stationed in Japan)
- Turbo Control solenoids custom from an Rx-7 club group buy project. All hoses replaced with viton hoses.
- Greddy Underdrive pulleys
- Urethane motor mounts
- A/C system converted to R-134 and still works (important here in FL!)
- ACT Pro-lite Flywheel and clutch
- 4.777 gears in the rear diff. (gears and spare diff were bought in Japan. Installationof gears into the diff pumpkin was done by Rotary Performance of Garland Texas. Bonzai rear diff brace.
- Superpro bushings installed in the rear, have the ones for the front, but they are still in the box awaiting install.
- Defi-link gauges: Boost, Oil temp, Oil pressure, water temp all working, fuel pressure gauge also included, but is not currently hooked up
- PLX wideband O2 gauge, (currently not working, or at least displaying from the box to the gauge)
- Nardi steering Wheel from 2000 yr RX-7. Airbag removed from steering wheel, and airbag computer removed from car. There is still an airbag in the passenger dash, and the airbag light is lit because the airbag computer was removed. The parts are all included in case for some reason you'd like to put it all back.
- '99 spec stock 17" staggered RX-7 wheels with polished finish and custom 'flying M' center caps.
- Bose system removed (some of the pieces are still included with the spare parts), non-bose rear compartment lid added (doesn't have the holes for the bose tube)
Things that need attention:
- Speedometer needle is slow -- I think it is dragging against the gauge faceplate. At one point I tried replacing the faceplates with custom ones (it was a bad idea), and when I didn't like it, I put it back to original. There is a little lip that holds the actual gauge face flush against the plastic backing, and I think it just needs to pushed back, but to do it I have to take the gauge cluster out, which I haven't got around to doing yet. Also, with the different rear gears and larger tires, the speedo would be inaccurate anyways. I have a collection of instrument clusters bought from Rx-7club/ebay that will come with the car that you can take a look at to see exactly what I'm talking about if my description seems confusing. . ..
- Transmission makes a rattling noise when in neutral. It has been doing this for years, but I don't think it is quite right. 5th gear synchro works fine. I also have a spare JDM transmission that is included in the parts, but if I recall, that one won't go into reverse for some reason.
- Driver's side window switch or motor is broken and/or disconnected somewhere. This happened a few months ago and driver's window has been stuck in up position ever since. I haven't looked into what the cause is. Passenger window and mooroof both function normally.
- Plastic garnish piece on the windshield is damaged and curls up. I have a replacement oem part for this, I just haven't installed it. I also have replacement interior garnish pieces for the window corners that were drilled to install tweeters, in case you want to remove the tweeters and don't want holes in the interior plastic.
- Apexi PFC needs to be tuned. I have the PFC commander and datalogit kit for computer hookup., but it needs to be properly tuned -- car is very reliable and runs strong, but it was never properly setup after the install and with current settings it will intermittently fuel cut under full power, which is pretty annoying. It's been installed ever since the engine was rebuilt, so it's not a major issue as far as drivability and reliability, it just needs to tuned properly by someone who knows the system and/or has the time and desire to learn and do it correctly.
- Minor cosmetic damage to interior and exterior. See pics. If you stand about 10 feet away, the car will look almost new, but if you start looking there are several places where the paint is chipped or scratched, and one small door ding on the driver's side that I couldn't get to show up well in the picture, but it is there. The headlight covers and plactic panel under the fuel cap area is slightly faded.
- Shocks are worn and probably should be replaced. Not a major issue, but is annoying on a long drive.
- After driving for while the ABS brake light will come on. The brakes work normally, so I don't know why this is, and haven't looked into yet.
