My 1991 Miata, 33k original miles in excellent shape.
Bought in 2013 with 28k miles, I've put about 5k miles on it over the last 3 years, mostly weekend cruising. I bought it from the second owner, another +50 guy, who lived in Greenwich CT who had put the original wheels aside and put on a wider set of Toyo Proxes (16"). I've swapped the originals back on and off and can't feel a discernable difference (original wheels with what I've been told is original tires will go with the car, in excellent shape - see pict). I estimate current wider tires have about 10k miles on them. Last year I put the roll bar in (for looks) and a cold air intake (slightly more frisky and sounds nice). Car will come with hard top, soft top and very nice car cover which I rarely used (always stored inside). No pets and no smoking. This car has roll-up windows and no cruise control (old school). Car has original jack and spare (never used).
Car runs without any issues, no rattles or odd engine noises. Runs through the gears beautifully and steers/stops as it should. Feels like a tight, new car. Lots of clutch, i.e., engages very high up. Runs steadily in the middle of the temp. gauge and oil pressure very strong. Not certain how the AC works as I've never had it on, but heater blower works just fine. All original paint in excellent shape and never been in any accident of any kind or had any body work. Proxes give the car ridiculous grip without being very harsh. All gauges lights and switches work. Top is in good shape with no cuts although the plastic window looks it's age. Everything fits fine over the padded roll-bar. Stereo head and speakers are.... pedestrian.
If you're not familiar with these earlier NA cars, the 1600 motor makes for one of the best driving experiences you can have, before they became more refined. Early Miatas with this kind of history are getting VERY hard to find. I will regret selling, but I have too many 'specialty' cars, and need to pare down (including it's grandfather, the lotus elan. I snuck that last Lotus shot in there from last year just for comparison). This Miata is a really a wonderful car. The car gets compliments where ever I take it.
If I were looking for flaws, I'd point out the small crack to the left of the license plate (photographed). Carpets are original to the car and are also tired. Can't find much else. Seats and interior are excellent. One could argue it's due for timing belts and water pump. Carfax supplied with photos, showing minimal ownership transfers.
Please don't bid unless you're prepared to buy. Your bid is commitment, not an option. I can help w/ shipping in that I can be here when they arrive. No joy rides. Clear NYS title in hand. Comes w/ spare keys, cover, hard top, 4 original wheels/tires. Thanks for looking.
