It has an alloy body designed and built by Frua and is a European model with about 86,000 Km. The Mistral is a lightweight, 2 seat, short wheel base sports car with plenty of performance from a high torque dual overhead cam six cylinder engine with Lucas mechanical injection putting out 255 horsepower and with direct lineage to the famous 300S Maserati race car. This Mistral was delivered with a Grigio(silver) exterior color, but has been recently painted Torch Red. The interior was redone in black leather with black carpeting about 10 years ago and is still in very good condition. The Borrani wheels were also restored 10 years ago and look great. The tires are Pirelli P3000's with less than 3000 miles on them. Most of the chrome has been re-plated and all the lenses have been replaced. This Mistral runs strong and shifts through the gears crisply. It is the best running and handling Maserati I've owned.
I've done a recent compression check and the results are as follows:
Cylinder #1 175 psi
Cylinder #2 175 psi
Cylinder #3 172 psi
Cylinder #4 178 psi
Cylinder #5 176 psi
Cylinder #6 175 psi
I have owned this Mistral for about 16 years and bought it off a friend who had owned it the previous 20 years. It has always been garaged during those intervals. Prior to that I have no knowledge except that it was delivered new in Dec. 1966 to the original owner in Genoa, Italy. The odometer shows 86,000 Km which may be correct because I've put less than 5,000 Km on it and the previous owner didn't use it much either. This is a numbers matching car with the VIN, engine and frame showing the same serial number. I believe that all other components are also original.
Payment to be a bank wire within 10 days of end of auction. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I will deliver the vehicle to a local pick up location if desired.
This is a reserve auction and 'no' I don't have a Buy It Now. In fairness to the other bidders I will not divulge the reserve price,
This vehicle has attended many Maserati events over the last 16 years and recently was shown at Concorso Italiano in Monterey, CA at the Blackhorse Golf Course in August last year where it was awarded 'Best in Class'. It was also on the track at Laguna Seca the prior year for a few laps honoring the 100th year anniversary of Maserati.
The Mistral will be in Monterey from August 17-20 and can be seen by appointment or at Concorso Italiano on Saturday August 20th. For more information email me at carnutz@juno.com.
