1973 Maserati Coupe Additional Info:
Hey Guys and Girls, This is Rich Barnes from The Mustang Ranch in Golden, Colorado. Just now available to the public for sale I have this Vintage 1973 Maserati Bora #AM11749592. Mike Ward, of Maserati of Denver has personally asked me to list this special rear engine 2 door coupe. This is Maserati's first example of a rear engine car that only 275 were produced. Back in 1993 this car went through just short of a rotisserie restoration. With just 30,727 original miles it was a perfect candidate for a freshen up. The numbers matching motor and transmission were removed in order to disassemble, inspect, repair/ rebuild/ reseal and reinstall. Since of the low miles these components were just in the need of a light rebuild. The block was boiled, honed, inspected and checked for evenness across the line boar and deck. The pistons and rods were reconditioned as well as the crankshaft was machined .010 on the rods and .010 on the mains. The cylinder heads had a three angle valve job and were assembled with new stainless steel valves and components. A new high volume oil pump was installed along with new timing chain assembly. The rest of the motors internal parts were either replace or reconditioned. Then assembled with a new set of gaskets and bolted to the rebuilt Z-F five speed transmission and reinstalled with a new clutch assembly. When this work was done the water pump, alternator, starter, fuel pump and bolt on accessories were rebuilt or replaced. The four Weber down draft carburetors were rebuilt along with the distributor. Simultaneously the body had some occasional small chips, scratches and dings that needed to be addressed. It was then sanded, primered and prepped for paint. Refinished in the original red paint and lightly wet sanded/ buff to match the original finish was a must to keep the originality and integrity of the car. The front/ rear brakes had some attention as well as the front and rear suspension. Any component that was warn or close to it tolerance was rebuilt or replaced. The interior had a minor face lift to. New seat upholstery and carpet were replaced and the rest or the interior was cleaned. The glass is original to the car as well as all the bumpers, chrome and trim. Those items are in good to great condition. I have in my possession Documentation from Maserati showing its Pedigree in the production of this model. Also a moderate file with all of the repairs and maintenance. This Bora is the first example of Maseratis first rear engine car. The chassis mimics that of a Pantera. There are a lot of the same similarities with the engineering and design and components. One would say the Bora is a Pantera with a different face. Would you like to own the rear piece of Italian history? There were only 275 copies of this platform produced. I have personally driven this vintage car and found it to be totally road worthy. It will be a nice piece to add to your collection to show or occasionally drive to an out door event or function. Believe me you will be the only one pulling up with this car. If you have any questions please call me as there is no guarantee or warranty on this Italian Stallion.
