Well Sorted, Rare and Desirable! VIN AM109A1 The car on offer is this stunning 1966 Maserati Mistral coupe. The Mistral is one of the few undiscovered 'sleepers' in the vintage exotic car collector market. The Mistral was considered so beautiful when it was produced... in the 1960’s, that it won the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours in 1968; the only post war car EVER to win this honor. These cars are being beginning to receive the recognition for what they really are, beautiful iconic, 1960’s, 2-seat, short wheel base sports car with great performance. They are bound to appreciate in value as they are among the few cars that are considered as not just cars, but iconic pieces of automotive art. The Mistral checks all the boxes for collector car status; they are beautiful, offer great performance and were made in very limited numbers. The gorgeous alloy body was designed by Frua and is a European model; the car shows 74,000 Km (just under 45,000 miles) on the odometer; we believe the mileage to be original. The exotic, high torque dual overhead cam six cylinder engine puts out 255 horsepower and has a direct lineage to the famous 300S Maserati race car. The performance is wonderful, with great torque and power. She is a late series, low mile example with the original 4.0 liter engine (one of only 298 built with this option), 5 speed ZF transmission, and Borrani 15" wire wheels. This car has been the recipient of a comprehensive service including an engine rebuild and a restoration of the braking system. The sympathetically restored and maintained nature of this Mistral is self evident. Her Argento Auteuil Metallizzato exterior paint is excellent with deep shine and luster. The red leather interior was redone including the dashboard and red carpets and remains in near new condition; the car is stunning from every angle. The Borrani wheels are restored, look amazing and are shod with Michelin XWX tires (tires will need to be replaced). The chrome is excellent, all rubber trim is fresh and all the lenses are clear. The transmission is excellent and shifts through the gears with precision. The restored braking system works as designed. The engine is original to the car as verified by engine number. Many other components are also original to the car. We invite you to have your expert come and inspect the car. These 1960s Maserati’s check all of the boxes for collectibility and are bound to go up in value in the future. Please feel free to call 203-446-3477 or email if we can answer any of your questions.
