1972 Lotus Europa S3 TWIN CAM, 59,013 original miles
Offered is a 1972 Lotus Europa S3 TWIN CAM VIN #46/2503R, build in July ’72 just a few serial numbers before the Lotus switched to the Special model. As such it already includes the stronger Special 365 4sp with rear shifter, Big Valve engine with Sprint cams, brake boosters and many other upgrades that Special is known for. This car is from Texas and it’s very clean and straight. No accidents and no rust on the chassis. The suspension is clean with bolts still showing factory plating. The car is NOT restored and is 100% original. The car was fitted from factory with KONI Shocks. The rears were replaced with new factory set (trying to rise the rear but it’s the same height as before) the original KONIs assemblies are included in the sale. The rear bearings were redone including new u-joints. The car was last used in 1996. It’s being in the shop on display most of its life. The car was prepped for the storage by lubricating the engine, taking gas out, etc. Engine rotated every month.
The car has some engine modifications done by Sports Car World of Dallas. The valve cover is stamped with the level of modifications. Emissions deleted, polished and balanced engine internals, higher compression, aluminum flywheel, exhaust headers, Japanese alternator, etc. The interior is nice – dash is good but the clear coat has cracks. The dash ABS cap needs to be replaced – it’s warped from the Texas sun. Rear suspension has adjustable lower links. The car has a sunroof installed which can be completely removed – making the interior open and letting the air in and out better. Yes not original but actually very functional and a pleasure to have. A complete replacement roof cap is included in the sale if the new owner wants to remove the sunroof. The car has new 15x7 period correct looking wheels and new Dunlop tires with “0” miles. Never driven. Hubs were upgraded with larger studs and lug nuts. If the original Spider wheels are preferred I can exchange them but the car is being sold with one set of wheels.
Please look at the pictures. I can take more if required. The car is not like most of Europas offered for sale. This is clean and well preserved car. The door hardware that on other cars is always rusted solid is still factory new looking.
The car has to be transported – I have not attempted to start the car – it will require fluids, battery and gas. I don’t want to go through setting up the car if I don’t sell it and will store it again. The engine is perfect and run beautifully before the car was parked. Inspection of the car is welcome.
