1972 Lotus Other Additional Info:
I purchased this Lotus Europa about ten years ago. I am the third owner. The car was originally purchased in California. Due to chronic neck and lower spine conditions. The Europa and I will need to part ways. If you are looking at the pictures and reading my description. The odds are you may know as much or more about the car than myself.
This being said. I am more than happy to provide you with as much information as possible. I also have additional pics available upon request. Additionally I will offer the Lotus to individuals from Canada and Europe. This being said you will be responsible for all costs across the border and or to the shipping yards for delivery across the pond....
Information: The third-series Europa featured a redesigned body shell helping improve rearward visibility. The Renault engine was replaced by the more powerful 1558cc Lotus-Ford twin-cam motor, producing over100 horsepower. The Acceleration from 0 to 50 MPH is 4.8 seconds and the 0 to 60 Acceleration from 0 to 60 is 6.6 seconds.
The top speed is 117 MPH. 105 HP. Weight is 1,510 lbs. Four speed modified Renault Transmission. Mid Engine. Torque is 103 lb-ft.
Shortly after the purchase of the Lotus. I went to an expert Fiberglas Body Restore Paint Shop. Any signs of the notorious spider web cracking was properly taken car of and remedied. I chose the Ferrari Red color with three coats of clear coat and the off centered dual racing stripe.
This car runs like a Lotus should. Mechanically the car is in an exceptional condition. The car also handles as a Lotus Europa should. This Lotus Europa also comes with the rare original Lotus rims. The only initial concern will be the brakes. The brakes themselves are almost new, the MC has been rebuilt and the wheel cylinders have also been replaced. However I have yet to master the special Lotus technique regarding the bleeding of the brakes. The brakes are spongy only after they have been pumped a number of times.
In conclusion of the description. One would need to spend some time touching up the exterior. Most of touch up needed will be is from moving the Lotus in and out around my other cars. The Interior will also need some loving. The seats have a few seat seam tears and the dash will also need some attention. All of the gauges work properly but the tachometer cable will need replacing. The tach works but it makes a winding sound initially but quiets down with five or ten minutes of driving. I do have a replacement tachometer cable.
I will entertain any reasonable offers. But please do not try to Low Ball me. You will only be wasting your time and mine as well.
