1939 Lincoln Zephyr Convertible Coupe. GORGEOUS! See VIDEO Additional Info:
1939 Lincoln Zephyr Convertible Coupe Located in LaGRANDE, OREGON. One of the rarest Lincoln offerings for 1939 was the Convertible Coupe, with just 640 examples produced that year. This particular car was purchased by a gentleman in Union, Oregon; the eastern high desert part of the state, an ideal climate for preserving an automobile. After enjoying the car with his family for many years, by the mid-1980's it had been parked in a barn adjacent to their home where the dry climate kept the sheet metal rust-free. It was discovered by the current owner's husband in 1985, and it emerged from the barn. Over the next six years, this Lincoln received an exacting frame-off restoration of the highest order. No expense was spared to do everything right and in keeping with factory stock specifications. The body was stripped to bare metal and profesisonally painted in the original "Zephyr Coach Maroon" color. Deep red leather upholstery and carpets were custom-sewn in correct style. A new Haartz cloth top was fabricated. All glass and rubber replaced. All trim was re-plated, and the unique circular instrument panel and dashboard were restored, including the rare, working Lincoln radio. The results are a knockout. The condition today is excellent, as attested-to by the photos and video, which were just taken for this listing. Mechanically, all components were rebuilt, including chassis, drivetrain, brakes, transmission, fuel system, cooling system and of course the original Lincoln V-12 engine. The 267 cubic inch poweplant generates 110 HP at 3900 RPM, with a stout 186 foot pounds of torque at 2000 RPM. Mated to the overdrive transmission, this is a wonderful road car, either around town or on the highway. Since restoration it has traveled a little over 1,200 miles on regional trips and to shows, and it has always performed flawlessly. While it has been stored for some time, recently, it was started (on the first turn of the starter) and was driven for the video and photos that accompany this listing. I have personally driven this car. It runs, shifts and drives like a properly restored car should, and stops smooth and straight with no issues. It is a real pleasure to drive. PLEASE SEE VIDEO OF CAR RUNNING AND DRIVING. It is only due to the passing of the owner that his wife and family are reluctantly offering this beautiful Zephyr for sale. The long-overdue appreciation of these beautifully styled and engineered V-12 cars has recently caused prices to appreciate significantly. It is estimated that less than 12 examples of this model survive today, which is reflected in the few ever seen for sale. One of the most recent sales, in 2012, saw a 1939 Zephyr Convertible selling for over $269,000. While we are more reasonable in our expectations, we do believe that this car is of near-comparable quality and know it could certainly not be restored to this level today for the reserve asking price. If you have been searching for a wonderfully restored and sparingly-used 1939 Zephyr Convertible, with a known history from new, this is a rare opportunity. Please bid accordingly. Certainly, we hope the new owner will enjoy this rolling work of art as much as the previous two owners have over the past 77 years. WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS, WORDWIDE. AUCTION ENDS MONDAY EVENING, SEPTEMBER 5, 2016. If the video link below is inactive, please go to: https://youtu.be/ScbEMdFsfX4
