Only 25,933 miles on California actual mileage title One of 572 Mark IIs built in 1957; perhaps as few as one of 250 in existence today Original delivery date – April 3, 1957 Once part of the J.C. Daniels Collection, one of 388 excellent Lincoln models 368 Y-block V-8 engine with 4-bbl carburetor (300 hp) Three-speed Turbo-Drive automatic transmission Finished in desirable Oxford Gray Metallic exterior White interior Factory Air Conditioning Power Windows, Power Steering and Brakes, Four-way Power Seats and Power AntennaRanked as one of the most beautiful automobiles to ever hail from Detroit, MotoeXotica is very happy to offer this Oxford Gray Metallic 1957 Continental Mark II ( Often confused as a Lincoln). Most Continental enthusiasts agree that about half of all Mark IIs made exist today, so it is logical to estimate that only about 250 of these cars survive today and very few in this stunning color combination.
Its Grey metallic paint is in excellent overall shape with a few minor blemishes, most notably on the right front fender and the driver’s side door. All windows, mirrors and lights are crack-free and clear. Body panels are all in good shape though the hood rises slightly at the cowl. There are two blemishes on the rear bumper but overall, both bumpers are highly reflective and in great shape despite their age and originality. Car rides on newer Firestone FR380 radials with the original equipment wheels and Lincoln hubcaps.
This beautifully presented Continental features a 368 CID Y-block V-8 with a Turbo-Drive three-speed automatic transmission, factory air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power windows, power seats, power vent windows. This extremely good looking and well-equipped Continental will delight even the most discerning early classic car collector or enthusiast.
Inside, the car has a unique white interior marking it as pure class. The four-way power seats, carpet, headliner and dashboard are all in fine condition, as are the door skins, rear package shelf and shift lever. Car still has its original Travel-Tuner AM radio with two speakers and power antenna and there’s a Cartier clock. The car has full instrumentation but the tachometer, windshield wipers and horn are inoperable.
Original delivery to Aurora Auto Sales of Aurora, Illinois occurred on April 3, 1957. Ownership records date back to 1983, when Richard J. Burby II of Quinnesec, Michigan owned it while he was a Lincoln and Continental Club (LCOC) member.
Five years later, in 1988, former Lincoln-Mercury dealer and oil man J.C. Daniels, of Pampa, Texas, owned the car as part of the world’s largest Lincoln car collection. Daniels’ estate owned the car until 2003, when it and the other 387 Lincolns he had owned were sold off to the public.
The third owner since Mr. Burby owned the car for four years, until 2007, when it was sold to Dr. George Goicoechia of Miami, Florida. During this time, he had the following work done to the car – new tires, batteries, partial exhaust replacement, air conditioning compressor, high capacity alternator, carburetor rebuild and a complete tune-up. He owned it until 2010, when he traded it for a Porsche 911.
The Continental Mark II was revived in late 1955, produced by the Continental Division of Ford Motor Company and completely separate from Lincoln-Mercury; its sole model was the Continental Mark II. This version was a unique design with the highest quality control ever seen in the automobile industry. High-class luxury abounded in the new Continental and with very limited availability, it appeared even more exclusive than the original. This car was so exclusive, selling for $10,000 new, that celebrities like Frank Sinatra and Elvis and even President Dwight D. Eisenhower had to follow protocol from Ford to qualify for ownership.
Don’t imagine yourself behind the wheel of this Continental, experience it! GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!
Current mileage on the odometer shows 25,933 and is actual mileage. The car is being sold on a clear and actual mileage California title.
