This 1967 Lincoln Continental "Coronation Coupe" is probably the only one in existence. Lehman/Peterson was the authorized Customizer for Ford Motor Company using mostly their Continental for special order Limousines for their famous and wealthy customers. These Customized cars were built to the exact desires of the purchaser. As reported by the seller to me, this car was ordered by LBJ, President of the United States as a Coronation Coupe. As this story goes, Lehman/Peterson refused the order to take a 1967 Model in the style of a Coronation Coupe created in 1966. Therefore the order was sent to Durham. Durham Coachbuilders was the only Custom Builder that survived into the 1960's. Again as reported to me, Durham built 2 Coronation Coupes, one for Detroit Lions owner (blue) and one for LBJ (white). Durham had a long list of very famous customers, Pope Pius, King Farouk, President Eisenhower, Gary Cooper and Raymond Loewy. Rare Options are found with this car!*Power passenger headrest,*Front corner auto headlamp,*8 Track player, *speed control, *Power vent windows, *Custom padded top, *reduced rear window, *black leather interior, *thick Mouton carpet, *Power windows, seats, steering & brakes, *462 V-8 engine with dual exhaust, *automatic transmission with select shift turbo drive, *Power locks, antennae and trunk, tilt wheel, *climate control AC, *wide band of walnut trim running the length of the vehicle.Over these past many months, Ive gone to extensive research to determine if statements made are true.First, I find nothing that can verify LBJ ordering this car. There is much information to verify Johnson was a fan of Lincolns having used the 1964 Crown Imperial Ghia Limousine. Secondly, the builder, due to pictures found in #'s 140 & 144 of the Lincoln Owners publications including the Guide for 1961-1969 indicate to me that this car was customized by Lehman/Peterson.What is good & not! *All amenities and options are there! *Interior is in great shape.*All power options work! *Engine starts and runs smoothly as does transmission. *Headliner, windows & wheel covers are in great shape.Needs Attention *Plush Mouton carpet in drivers well shows wear. *Steering rack needs tighten. *AC needs recharge and it is not known if climate control is operable. *There is a very slight exhaust leak. *Tires are old. *Rust is found under both sides under walnut trim. *There is a slight ding on the top rear (passenger side) of the body. *pitting exists on the surrounding moulding of the top.Being a lover of Lincolns as well as this being one of the most rare of cars, I purchased this Lincoln with intention of complete restoration. Being in the middle of another very extensive and expensive build, the realization of restoration of the Lincoln became a project beyond my current capability, therefore "For Sale".Dana NewquistAACA Santa Barbara PresidentDirector Murphy Auto Museum/Oxnard Ca
