This is a beautiful 1957 Lincoln Continental Mark II in excellent condition both inside and out. It stands as the absolute rarest of the Mark II's, being from the last year of production. This makes it 1 of only 444 produced and even more impressively, 1 of just 98 equipped with factory Air Conditioning. Originally from southern California, this car boasts a mere 79,650 original miles. It also has a touch of celebrity history, having once been part of the Richard Carpenter collection of "The Carpenters". Its authenticity is documented and recognized in the Mark II Registry.
From the history I've gathered, this car has always been a gem. In 2004, it found a buyer at the Barrett-Jackson car auction in Scottsdale and has been stored in Arizona ever since. I suspect the car underwent a light restoration in the early 2000s, transforming it from an already mint southern California vehicle. The rust-free body was stripped to bare metal and repainted in its original shade of White Lucite. The chrome, too, seems to have been refreshed around the same period. Its ultra-rare finned hubcaps are in impeccable condition, and it proudly stands on a set of brand-new Coker vintage bias-ply-look radial tires, ensuring a smooth ride.
Inside, the car retains what looks to be its mostly original white & blue leather upholstery accentuated with blue piping. The interior radiates with care and gives away its low mileage past. Every component, including the factory air conditioning that delivers a cold breeze, functions flawlessly. For modern entertainment, there's a newer AM-FM CD radio tucked away in the glove compartment, equipped with XM radio, perfect for enjoying classic tunes while cruising.
In 1957, this car's price tag was a staggering $10,000—double the cost of a standard Lincoln or Cadillac. To the first wave of Mark II owners, which included names like Elizabeth Taylor, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Nelson Rockefeller, Barry Goldwater, Cecil B. DeMille, and R.J. Reynolds, the price was a non-issue. Even today, It remains one of the finest cars the Ford Motor Company ever crafted. Nowadays, these cars fall into one of two categories: treasures or junk. This particular car is undeniably among the treasured few. Don't miss your chance to own a piece of history!
