1955 Lincoln Capri 2 Door 341/225HP V8 Hardtop Additional Info:
West Coast Classics are proud to present a very striking example of this 1955 Lincoln Capri 341/225HP V8 2 door Hardtop in it's very attractive original two-tone color combination of 'Ermine White over Cashmere Coral' (Paint Code 90) with believed to be its all original and superb condition matching 'Ermine White over Cashmere Coral' interior with original surface dyed leather and correct factory welting all in virtually as new condition, full floor carpeting, electric clock, chrome window surround moldings, bodyside beltline trim, full length bodyside stainless steel molding, rocker panel molding, rear fender skirts, and with factory options of AM Radio, Power Steering, Power Windows, 4-Way Power Seat, Power Brakes & Full Wheel Covers with Whitewall tires.
The Lincoln Capri was to replace the Cosmopolitan in 1952 as the top-of-the-line series for the marque and was offered in three bodystyles. Both series road a new 123" wheelbase chassis with newly designed ball joint front suspension, recirculating ball power steering and under the hood was Ford Motor Company's first overhead valve V8 which would extend to both Ford & Mercury. For 1953 the Lincoln V8 produced more power per cubic inch than any of its competitors. Styling changed completely too with a more contemporary squared off look and extensive sound deadening enhanced refinements added to the improvements. These Lincoln's were highly regarded, both then and now, and are especially known for their superlative performance in the Carrera Panamericana (Mexican road races) in those years.
By 1955 the Capri had proved to be a very attractive and popular model with ultra-clean front to end styling with the legendary massive tailights housed in elongated fenders. These models were built with only the very best materials available at the time with both excessive comforts as well as power. In 1955 Lincoln once again became a separate division of the Ford Motor Company and finally introduced an automatic transmission of its own, Ford built and dubbed the Turbodrive and was said to bring new flexibility and smoothness to the driving experience. To keep pace in the horsepower race, the OHV V8 was bored out to 341 cid with the 4BBL carburetor and 1955 was the first year for the dual exhausts with unique rear bumper outlets.
This particular example is in very fine condition throughout with a very straight body and with the floor boards, trunk and all the typical rust-prone areas solid. The car has a very striking repaint which has been color sanded and buffed in it's original two-tone colors and remarkably the interior as previously stated is believed to be all original, apart from the carpet, also in the very striking and matching two-tone colors of the body which is very handsome and the car boasts power steering, power windows and power brakes.
The original 341/225HP OHV V8 engine runs strong with the original 'Teapot' carburetor having been just rebuilt and the original Tri-Tone Color painted engine is color correct and sounds absolutely magnificent and this particular car drives really well - a truly remarkable daily driver that will give any modern day car a run for it's money!
This is a rare opportunity to own a great daily driving example of a very striking 1955 Lincoln Capri 2 door Hardtop in very fine daily driving and looking condition throughout and a turn-key ready example for any classic American car enthusiast to enjoy or collect today!
