1962 Lincoln Continental Additional Info:

Get it before its gone - these do not come up often in this condition at this price. For your consideration is a 1962 Lincoln Continental convertible. I purchased this from the original owners estate. The odometer shows 24,201. Had not seen the light of day since 1992.
Engine:The 430 engine has been treated to a complete tune-up including spark plugs and wires, points, cap, rotor, coil, oil change and filter, and rebuilt carburetor. In addition to the tune-up, a new battery, starter and all high current wiring replaced. As a result, she starts right up and runs smooth. The fuel tank is temporarily bypassed pending inspection and cleaning. Engine running off plastic fuel tank in the trunk.
Drivetrain:The transmission shifts into all gears assertively. Some wetness around the transmission pan and rear differential.
Steering/Suspension/Brakes:The front end feels tight when I had it on the lift. Suspension looks original but serviceable. The brakes received a new master cylinder. The car stops with little effort, but the whole braking system should probably be gone through for safety's sake. Power steering works great (the old one-finger power steering) but there is a significant leak on one of the hoses.
Body:Ill-fitting doors is a dead giveaway of unibody weakness on these cars, and the doors on this one close nicely with no sagging. There is a mix of original and non-original paint on the car. There looks to be some filler in the rear quarter and dog legs between the rear wheel well and door on both sides. Both of these areas are common to rust and repair panels are readily available. The trunk lid is badly rusted. FoMoCo used an inferior adhesive to bond the inner and outer trunk lid halves that attracts moisture. This is yet another common problem with these cars, but trunk lids are available aftermarket. The undercarriage and unibody is in extremely good shape, which is what matters most. The convertible top is in great shape with no rips or tears.
Interior:Great original shape. A small tear in the front seat, rear seat is beautiful. Nice dash, serviceable carpet.
Electrical:Most systems are serviceable. I have not attempted to operate the top, though the mechanism and electronics look to be untouched - which is always best. Windows are intermittent.
I've driven this car around my property, but it is not safe for the road yet. To be safe all systems should be serviced and tires replaced. This car needs a total restoration. I say this because its a 58 year old car. I have described it to the best of my ability, so please do yourself a favor and come look at it in person or hire eBay to send an inspector down before clicking that "Buy It Now" button.
