1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III Additional Info:
I am pleased, and a bit sad, to list my 1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III. I purchased this beauty in 2016. I drove it over 100 miles from its previous owners location with zero issues. My grand plan was to restore this to a A+ show car. I have receipts for over $12,000 in improvements. I wanted the vehicle to be mechanically flawless. This effort was nearly accomplished. The interior looks like the day it was purchased, as the photos demonstrate. My mechanic did not do any of the minor exterior work. Nor have I had the time to conduct it. It is nothing serious. The blemishes and items known are listed towards the bottom of this description. To be frank, the only reason I am selling it is because I want an 4 Door JEEP, or an RV, and having both the Lincoln, and yet another toy vehicle won't fly with the Mrs. (I am open to the comp value TRADE of a “5 wheel” trailer, I have a Long Bed Pickup, as such I am only interested in a 5th Wheel model of RV. ...OR, I would also be open to trade for a Jeep Wrangler. Must be 4 doors, and Black, White, Silver...just not a bold color like Red, or Yellow. In both cases the trade must be in great condition. In the TRADE option. I do NOT want a project vehicle. I want a newer model year Automatic 4x4 4 Door Jeep Wrangler,or 5th wheel RV that has no notable restoration issues to deal with.) Back to my cruiser. Given the vehicle was not needed for any immediate daily use, I let it sit with the Classic Restoration Firm for as long as needed, and I gave them latitude to chip away at it when needed, in preparation for the following spring. They repaired EVERYTHING that was even close to being in need of repair that had to do with making it a safe, reliable car. “Peek-A-Boo” lights work perfect and are super cool.. Keep in mind, it drove just fine BEFORE I left it with the Restoration firm. I wanted it to be fully vetted for mechanical safety, and work to making it a show car. As such, Mechanically, this vehicle is nearly flawless. Again, $12,000+ plus spent to get it to its current state. You could drive it across the country and back. No problems. Most of the repairs were proactive, You could argue all were pro-active because of how long I drove it before deciding to upgrade its Classic Car status to A+. I had no issues, but I know old cars have hidden mechanical issues. This is one of the reasons I put in the hands of the restoration firm. Once taken back from the restoration firm I noted the items not addressed, but still on my punch list. I never got to it, so below items are how you can expect the car to be. It also comes with two sets of rims. The OG ones, and the solid plated Lincoln ones. I swapped out the spokes for the solid. You will get all pairs. These are the known defects yet to be addressed. Just had the power window motor replaced for the driver's side. Both sides work, but are slow and occasionally stick. Placing the hand on the window and pushing upward always works when it happens (usually in winter months). $20 dollar clip that allows you to adjust the steering wheel is rubbed down, and can click down a ⅓” inch if forced. Does not impact its steering direction at all. Gas gauge is unreliable. I use small writing pad, and fill up every 100 miles. Horn shorted out, and heated up the horn rim, making horn unreliable. It's a cool horn, you just squeeze anywhere and it honks when working perfectly. Has very minor rust, and a small dent pictured. Has a exterior tear in seam of Tonneau cover which is clearly pictured in photos. Left hand mirror works fine, but does not hold its angle unless a small rubber wedge is placed in it. The reality is, the car is from 1971. $12,000+K in repairs got a TON of items done. Priority was made in order, with daily driver stability, and moving down to details. It still needs that last 5% to make it a show car. But the defects are minor, no one ever mentions them. The car is a magnet for people. I can’t get a tank of gas without talking to 3 people. Folks are entranced by it. I’m entranced by it. Just time to move onto a RV or Jeep, as mentioned fair value trades are ready to be entertained. You are welcome to come and drive it around, bring it to a mechanic. Whatever you want. It is obviously being sold As-Is. It is a 50 year old car. Having said that. For a 50 year old car to be able to drive whenever, wherever, without fear of some massive mechanical issue is rare. Not to mention what a head turner it is. Now, my desire has shifted from this cruiser to buying a RV with its proceeds. Photos really say it all. It has super low milage, is a real head turner. If you want to discuss further please give me a call at 914-409-9330. I would be happy to send you a PDF with all of the repair work, as well as its history. The original owner saved EVERYTHING. I have a file about 1 inch thick. Never missed an oil change, or tire rotation. Its first owner really must have loved this beauty. I hope its next home loves it as much as I did. It's like driving around in an ultra powerful lounge chair...and yes. Even at its size, you can leave rubber on the road if you want to show off at a stop light. It's a beast in a bow-tie. Truly stunning. Best luck, and questions. Please ask. Thank you. 914-409-9330 Look forward to hearing from you with any questions. You can also email me at KOD522@sudomail.com
