1979 Lincoln Town Car
VIN# 9Y82S6326l5
Mileage: 51,457
History:The car was purchased new in Portland. I purchased the car from John Case who bought the car for his father to drive, he bought the car from the original owner. John’s father stopped driving in the mid 90’s and the car was parked in John’s dry warehouse for 24 years. John has a high attention to detail and the car received anything it needed just as all his cars in his fleet, he owned a limousine business (Classic Chauffer) for 44 years. Enter early 2019 and I had the car serviced and have been enjoying it all year, I have put a great deal of attention to sorting anything needed and celebrating the 70’s every time I take it out.
Engine & Transmission: The car runs strong and the 400 V8 engine is exceptionally nice. It delivers power whenever you want it. The AC needs to be charged and a new compressor, I haven’t done that yet as we are moving into winter, my plan is to do that for the spring if I still have the car. I had a new gas tank installed, new gas shocks. New brake booster and system sorted, new tires, fluids, etc…The car has had regular use and I don’t let cars sit for extended periods of time. Wipers, heat, defrost, work as new. The underside of the car is extremely nice and dry (see photos). This low mileage car is in excellent condition.
Body: The body panels are all straight. All glass is in great shape, the electric windows all work great (see video). The paint is great even up close, there is some cracking in the vinyl top only in the center section on the roof and a tiny spot of corrosion on top of the rear passenger door (see photos). Lenses are in excellent shape. Very nice gaps/great rubber/chrome. The car has never been hit, no paintwork (all original) and the pant presents very well. Headlight vacuum doors work as they should. The color shows the great lines of the car.
Interior: The interior is in very good shape. All doors are excellent, the headliner has a rip in it in the front (see photos) the rest is exceptional. The dash and instruments look as it did when It rolled off the showroom floor. The 8-track plays great (see video). The trunk area is very nice as well as the spare tire compartment. The car is equipped with air shocks so the ride height can be adjusted for load. Leather seats with “pillow cushion” option. New carpet throughout.
Summary: This is awonderful example of a classic Lincoln. It is in great condition and perfect for cruising or taking to car shows. The car is a time capsule for 1979 and is a joy to drive. This is the last year for the big cars that came out of Detroit. Driving this car is a step back in time and a very amazing experience. A lot of these cars are not stored properly or used very much and this one was stored very well and I have sorted anything it needed. This car is very stately and can be driven every day, a great Lincoln to enjoy. Amazing solid survivor.
