1964 Lincoln Continental Black Additional Info:

This is a very nice older restoration. I purchased this car on 6/17/2016. At that time it had 112630 miles on it. It now has 114106 miles. The fellow I purchased it from purchased it on 11/7/1986. I have a lot of documentation for the car including bills of sale showing the above information. The oldest receipt noting mileage that I can find is from 7/25/1988 showing 110485 miles. The car had a restoration billed out on 10/6/1997 showing that it was stripped, rust repaired by welding in metal, paint, new vinyl roof and re chromed bumpers at a cost of $7296.22. The car still looks beautiful. It is not lazer straight but is absolutely straight enough to be black. It has a few scratches which would not show up in pictures. There are a few spots on the hood and trunk lid where the paint is starting to bubble. Those on the trunk lid are very minor and would not show up in pictures. Those on the hood are pictured. There is evidence of repair on the dog legs and over the left wheel opening. This is scrutinizing the car. These issues do not detract from car. It shows beautifully. Car has been garaged since I have owned and believe it was kept garaged with prior owner. The interior is very nice. Carpet, dash and headliner are excellent. Leather seats are dry but not split open. I had some Leather Honey and applied it to the drivers seat when I purchased the car. It made a world of difference softening up the leather. I had planned on buying more and doing all of the seats but it never happened. The original owner was a surgeon from New Jersey. There are plaques on each side of the rear window (pictured) that have something to do with the medical field. The fellow I bought it from chose to add them to the new vinyl roof because they were there since new.Engine runs very well. Cold start takes some cranking and pumping, but it always starts. No smoke noted. Engine related mechanical work since I have owned it includes having the fuel pump rebuilt, oil pan gasket and rear crankshaft seal. There are still some leaks. I plan to get the car on a lift for under pictures this week and elaborate on the leaks when I add them to the auction. The transmission has an issue. When cold, it does not downshift into first gear automatically. Once warm it does. I downshift into low gear manually and then upshift manually until the transmission does it itself. In colder weather, this will go on for maybe 2 miles in traffic. I had the car out today and it was downshifting / upshifting fine within a 1/2 mile of home. (85 degrees today)Power steering works fine but does leak a bit. I've added a small amount of fluid when I do oil changes. The pump was rebuilt prior to my ownership.Brakes chatter a bit. I assume the drums need resurfacing. The front end is good and it drives nice. Bushings show wear but are fine for now. I cut a coil from front springs as I like the look. New shocks, sway bar bushings and tires were done at that time. Rims were sandblasted and painted. I have 4 very nice hubcaps for it if buyer prefers that look.AC does not work. The compressor has a broken fitting for one of the lines. I have another compressor that has good fittings that will go with the car. I don't know if the cruise control works. The right rear window does not work. The right front window works if used regularly. After sitting for months it won't respond to the switch immediately. After pushing the switch up and down a few times, the window works fine until it sits again. The prior owner told me that he had to have window motors removed, brushes cleaned, lubricated and re-assembled several times during his ownership. The power wing windows work fine. Weatherstrips are tired. Some new ones are included, however I don't know their age.Under the car is very solid. There is a very small amount of rust in the drivers floor pan. I will add pictures. The car can be seen in Bridgeport Ct. by appointment. I have a lift so a thorough inspection can be done if so desired.I will be adding pictures and additional info as I remember things or note things when driving. The car is rarely driven so I may have forgotten some info.Once purchased, buyer will have the ability to join the facebook group "Suicide Slabs" and be one of the cool guys / gals!!!Moving to smaller house with smaller garage is the reason for sale.Check my feedback. I have sold multible cars, trucks and motorcycles and everyone has been pleased with their purchase.Shipping will be from area code 06825 if anyone is looking for quotes.
Drivers floor pan is worse than I thought. It is still intact, but you could poke your finger through in a few places. (I didn't) Passenger side is much better but getting weak. See pictures. Because of this I have lowered the opening bid to $10,000.00.
